What did she do that was actually racist though? The most that you can really say is that she emphasized the race of the man she believed was threatening her in the belief that the police were racist and would overreact as a way of amping up the threat of calling them, which is sh***y but not actually being a racist. Then again, I feel like a lot of people have lost touch with what that word actually means.

The people trying desperately to excuse Amy Cooper have probably never actually worked with a senior highly paid female executive before but this is precisely the type of petty thing they do (I know). In her (amy's) mind she was trying to be clever but didn't expect Christian to pull out his camera and film her. After that she was in damage control.

Your ability to read the minds of strangers from the other side of the world is astounding; almost as impressive as your grasp of American law and culture.

Well if you can't win with facts

To clarify I'm saying that Amy Cooper's hysterical melodrama was unreasonable, I'm not calling defending her perspective hysterical melodrama, just the actions Cooper engaged in while calling 911.

I guess no one here has seen a little kid getting worked up before tattling; I'm surprised she didn't say nanny-nanny-boo-boo while the phone rang.

Off Topic
The Karen stereotype is that of hysterical women, not a calculating one.

It conflates hysteria with being female, one of the oldest sexist stereotypes around

It's no accident Amy Cooper is labelled central park Karen.

According to the urban dictionary a Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people's behaviors, particularly against people of colour.

The common consensus among nearly all users online that a predominant feature of the "Karen" stereotype is that they weaponise their relative privilege against people of colour - for example, when making police complaints against black people for minor or even - in numerous cases - fictitious infringements.

Fit's the definition to a tee...

It's natural to lie to try to avoid being a victim.

This should be obvious to most people, surely.

That's not anything like what happened. She lied to 911 about why she called.
If she wants sympathy she needs to concede that she lied.

He threatened her with a sinister suggestion and psychologically abused her via videoing her on his phone.
How can you not see this??????????????? 8O

They were *both* idiots, ffs.
This is getting old. 8)

Seriously???

How many times do people have to say this?
"You won't like what I am going to do"
The guy was a dumb ass in threatening a lone woman like that.

Once again, they were *both* suckwits, but she had an excuse via being scared shite-less by a large threatening stranger when she was alone in a park.

Oi vey!
Not rocket surgery. 8O

1. Mr. Copper approaches you in a park.
2. Mr. Copper gets angry when you don't oblige his demands.
3. Mr. Copper escalates the confrontation by pulling out his video recording device to harass you.
4. Mr. Copper escalates the confrontation by threatening to "do something, you won't like".

Mr. Copper made a general threat, open to interpretation.

So, "threatening my life" seems reasonable

And she was panicked and acted stupidly. [sigh]

I think it may be time to give up.
Like my old pappy skunk used to say:
"You can take a wombat to logic, but you can't make it think". 8)

You will notice the surgical precision involved in avoiding that little nugget. As Michael Moore often said, it's an "inncovenient truth"

Even there's an African American man threatening me and my dog wouldn't have been a lie.
I wonder why she lied like that.
I wonder why people try to defend her lying like that.
:chin:

I have mentioned countless times that people in panic mode do stupid things.
Perhaps you are the only person in this universe who never has.

Read my lips.
I am not defending her actions.
Stop with your straw man arguments. 8O

How is saying she acted stupidly defending her?
Seriously, mate, you are destroying your credibility.
Keep in mind, "reason" is not your strong point. 8)

"Judge not until you walk a mile in their shoes."

This may not be a black and white(pun not intended) situation of she is either a racist or did a stupid thing out of panic. My theory is her fear brought out the racism she has been successfully masking or that she did not know she had.

We are all prone to racism tribalism when we are threatened, even those who are victims of racism tribalism.
It is in our genetic coding that can be hidden/mitigated through social conditioning.
When we are in panic mode, the more primitive part of our brain tends to take over from our pre-frontal cortex, as I have already mentioned.

Most people half our age have a very shallow understanding of human psychology in addition to being overly affected by their emotions.

BTW, I don't have a problem with someone's genetic coding.
I sometimes have a problem with cultural value systems.
But as my old skunk pappy used to say:
"You should judge an individual by his/her character rather than whether or not he/she has anal glands." 8)

Exactly. The guy is on the record about how he uses the dog treat trick to frighten off leash dog walkers, there are multiple witness accounts of him confronting other people under nearly identical circumstances, at least one of which got physical (notably, with another black man), he uttered an ambiguous threat hoping to get a reaction (hence the filming), and he got one. Basically, he trolled Amy Cooper into making poor decisions in a stressful situation, and people are so internet poisoned that they can't admit they may have been wrong about a complex situation that was reduced to a 40 second video.

I've said the same previously.
He created the situation.
What a jerk. 8O

Agreed.
She acted poorly when she was shite-scared.
People do stupid things when they are frightened, hello?
And the guy got the reaction he was angling for, imo.
What a jerk.
I can't believe someone hasn't reported him for vigilante harassment.
Apparently, he has done this sort of thing a number of times before. 8)
