Sorry. The actual lyrics are "I blessed the rains...".
Rock singers dont sing with the clarity that the old time pop crooners (like Sinatra, or like Tony Bennett) used to sing.
So we get "mondegreens" (misheard lyrics). Some mondegreens are notoriously common for the same song...like "scuse Me..while I kiss this guy" (not what Hendrix sang), and "there's a bathroom on the right"(not what Credence sang).
A crazy friend was amazed that the Standells "got away" with the song "Dirty Water" because of the line "Lovers, f*****s, and thieves".
I told him its "lovers, muggers, and thieves". He bristled and insisted that its "f*****s" until I showed him the lyrics online.
But ...on the other hand... in the song "Building a Mystery", Sarah Mclauglin really did sing "you sweet beautiful f****d up man". In the original studio version on "Surfacing" the line is buried deep in the mix. You have to wear headphones to hear it. But in the live version on Mirror Ball she just belts it out, and the crowd cheers.
