I hope to die somewhere in the wilderness where I can just crawl into a ditch and do what I need to do. The music then would be birdsong and the congregation of beasts can at least console themselves with a good meal of my flesh. If there has to be a sermon I want it delivered by a badger.

Wow. Haven't heard that in a long long time. Used to be a favourite.

I don't know.
Maybe nothing but pure silence.

No sermons... In fact, I don't like the idea of my death having any religious and funeral services around it.
So far experience tells me I really don't want it. Appropriate to many, and still I don't like nor want it so traditions be damned.

No formal prayers for me too -- I mean come on, a week long to 40+ days of rosary. I don't want it, intentions be damned.

Maybe I'd rather disappear when I'm dying and not found dead somewhere until I'm just all bones. So no burials even.

Perhaps no ashes or tombstones.
And all I had left is a will of 'Do not find me because I'm dead and don't bother finding the body' along with whatever inheritance IF there's any materials worth giving.

If one insists a song...
Make it a celebratory one than a mourning kind. Less to do with good byes and remembrance, more to do with letting go and congratulating me with freedom.
Or at least make it about me and how I had lived, instead of making it about them (still living) and 'losing' me. :roll:

When I am dead, my dearest
BY CHRISTINA ROSSETTI

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

Having my ashes shot into space with a recording of Spaceman by Babylon Zoo. That should utterly confuse any curious alien :lol:

I know I posted a couple songs but I really don't care what people do for my funeral. My body would just be an empty shell for em to do what they will. It would be great if my death could do some good somehow like I die saving a life, or my organs getting donated, or medical research would get performed on me. But barring all that, it does not matter what people do. Set me corpse on fire, drop it down a hole & cover it, let my corpse rott where it is, float it on a river, shoot it into outer-space, throw my corpse to some lions at the zoo to feed em. Doesn't matter as long as people don't waste a lot of money on it that could be donated to charity or something.
