Would you prefer to go back in time and be a broke 18 year old or would you prefer to have a million dollars/pounds and be 30?

I have a sense that considering this is an autism forum where a lot of people disliked their youth, this will be a reoccurring answer.

For me it's a tough one. I'm very nostalgic of my late teens and know that going back in time would allow me to start fresh and go on whatever path I like.......but a million pounds for me? It's tempting.

If I could be as I am now mentally, then I'd take 18 and broke. I don't mean that i'd know the future, just what I've learned about how people work and how society works, and self-knowledge too.

If it's just 18 again as I was then no thanks, I'll take 30 and bank the cool million - much better deal.

Neither.

I care not to go back to my high school years because of all the crap I put up with.

I also don’t care about the million dollars since the gummint would end up taking a good bit of it, one way or another.

I'm better socially and have a much better understanding of the world around me now than when I was 18 without a shadow of a doubt. When I was 18 being able to lean on my parents shoulder (or any older adult) when I needed was very comforting but now I'm mostly on my own and find myself giving advice to my parents more often than I realise while in the moment. The lack of responsibility when young was very sweet.

I'm not even thirty yet, but if I got a million for it, I could definitely handle being a few years older.

Million and 30.

At 30 one has usually not lost anything cognitively, gained more knowledge in the ensuing dozen years and lost little or nothing physically.

Having a million is way way better than being broke.

Well I'd have a million at 30. It would mean that I would get to go back 18 years as well and I really loved my 30's so it would be a win win for me.

Right now I am 38

18 was much worse than 30.

18, undergraduate, different city, different schools, different living situation,

30, already finished flunking out all the schools, getting made redundant from all the jobs

In other words, I would rather be (30 and broke) than (18 and a million dollars)

Besides a million dollars is not as much as it sounds

But (30 and a million dollars) would be better than (18 or 38) and broke

No point fantasizing

No time machine

Zero occupational prospects

And eat cetera :skull:
