One of my colleagues has someone tested positive for covid in the same household.

Another colleague has someone with a stomach flu in the same household.

I'm scared of both these viruses but for different reasons.

Although both me and my boyfriend have been doubly vaccinated (actually my boyfriend has just had his third booster) I still heard that vaccines aren't 100% effective so there's still a chance clinically vulnerable people like my boyfriend could die from covid despite being vaccinated.

I have severe emetophobia (phobia of vomiting), and I'm still traumatized from the last time I threw up with norovirus (4 years ago), so I'm terrified of catching any type of stomach flu again.

So I'm working with a potential carrier of covid and a potential carrier of the sickness bug. I could catch BOTH. I'm just really anxious right now.

I can understand how you feel. Right now my Uncle has Covid; three days before he was pinged Mum went out with him and my Aunt. I'm unvaxinated so this sparked huge worry...this is the closest I've got to Covid to date. Luckily Mum and Aunt tested negative.

I'm sorry if this is unhelpful. Have a Dog V4 hug!

I understand how you feel, I remember when I found out the person I sat next to had to self isolate I was really scared. I hope you don't catch either and you are both ok!

Well, it is inevitable that I'll catch the covid, because it's inevitable that the guy who's child was tested positive will catch it from her (it is practically impossible to avoid viruses from young children when living in the same household), and even though I tried to keep my distance at work it's still impossible to keep 6 feet away from each other at all times. Sometimes even I forget when having a conversation with someone. I have been wearing a mask but the others haven't, and I heard that masks don't protect you, only others, so it's a bit pointless really. I've been washing my hands regularly, and I've also rubbed antivirus hand gel in and around my nose, I don't know if that works or not but I can picture the virus dying as it travels into my nose.

But I suppose the next best thing to do is to hope and pray that the vaccines will protect me and especially my boyfriend. But it seems that some fully vaccinated people are still dying from covid, so that's a bit worrying.

Why is covid so catching???

I'm sorry this is happening. That sounds ridiculous! You're doing the best you can though. The mask will certainly help you -- it's better than no mask. Shower immediately after work, rinse inside your nose, and wash your clothes.

I'm surprised that the man is working when his child has Covid. Isn't he supposed to be on quarantine because he's been exposed? And shouldn't he be home taking care of her regardless? I'm really confused about why he's at work.

Good luck Joe. Extra hugs for you, too.

He has a wife do I suppose she's there with the children. I did find out about what you're supposed to do when exposed to someone with covid in the same household, and apparently the rule is now if you've been fully vaccinated you don't have to self-isolate unless you have symptoms. But I think the rule should be that everyone in the household should get tested before coming to work.
