Gosh, I haven't watched that film in years. I had totally forgotten what happened in it. That motherly love side of it touched me. When I was a kid, my mum took my sister and I to London Zoo. There were elephants, and they and the public were separated by a gap about as long as an elephant's trunk. Where the mother reaches out her trunk in that Disney song, I remember the elephants at the zoo reaching out their trunks like that, trying to touch the peoples' hands, and the people reaching out trying to touch the elephant's trunks. I remember one elephant on the end of a row of them, making a real effort to try to reach my hand. It was rather adorable, really.

The movie is sooo sad, but also pretty freaky when it does the psychedelic parts. My daughter used to be afraid of it (and The Sorcerer's Apprentice with the marching broomsticks, and Fantasia ...) but yeah, it's a lovely story. Elephants and all nurturing animals are really a miracle.
I remember seeing elephants in the zoo when I was about seven. They told me they can live up to 70 years. Even at that young age I vowed to keep thinking about the elephants through my life, and wonder if they're still alive. I still wonder. At a low point in my life I reminded myself that my life doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things because a human lifespan averaged out around the world is shorter than an elephant's. When I think of that, I try not to take myself so seriously or get worried about the small stuff.
Another tearjerker was "Little Mr Roo" from Pooh's Heffalump movie. I saw it with my little boy when he was already about ten, and I nearly lost it in the cinema. He was growing up so fast and the words hit me hard. I also love Carly Simon, so it caught me off guard.
I know he was likely embarrassed at that age so I tried to hide it, but I'm sure he saw my tears.

I'm gonna be different & post a Disney song that is actually not from a cartoon movie. I'll go with the Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montanta song, Best Of Both Worlds. I never watched that show or movie but Miley Cyrus's music used to be great, especially the songs that had good beats & were very catchy. Great song to stim to
