..able to throw my 2 cents in on promotion/raise/benefits/perks etc decisions & working for a company that can afford to treat people very well.

One guy went to work remotely from his property ~5,000kms away for a few months.. and then asked if he can stay remote and only return as needed. My 2 cents: Yep! We have the technology & can see what workload he takes on and completes, and can assign him with whatever we want just the same as sending a message/email within the building, so whatev's, enjoy your 100 acre wilderness full of beaver dams. 8)

Another pointed out to the owner that inflation is through the roof & his own personal life circumstances have his finances strained (neither is the company's problem.) And that we've had record sales lately And he's taken the initiative to spearhead some rather significant new responsibilities that he's doing Very Well with (these things count.) And that he'd prefer to switch from hourly to salary because it looks more favourable to a bank when deciding his credit worthiness. So, we discussed it and settled on a switch to salary with a big fat raise - over 20% - to reflect his new responsibilities & value contribution. Maybe we'll give him a fancy new title, too.

Moral of the story: CEO's and management teams are busy af, and while we may Notice employees' good work, it's not a bad thing for people to speak up and request a raise when they Know they deserve it and can justify it. If you're owed a raise for good reason(s), ask for it. Best case you get it, worst case you're either right where you were Or get the signal that it's time to join in The Great Resignation movement and offer your services to a different firm willing to compensate you better for your time & efforts.
