Quite possibly less well known in the US than in the Commonwealth.

EDIT OK it's possible I've seen his name before although only here. It doesn't seem he's an authority on autism.

Anyway I see he calls himself a "Classical Liberal". That's always a red flag for me. I wouldn't waste my time on whatever sort of narcissistic nonsense he wants to "share" with humanity.

He's actually quite intelligent. He was a Harvard professor. That's a quite a unfairly dismissive attitude. I like the guy, for his work on Mythology, but whatever... :roll:

Peterson gained notoriety a few years ago opposing the Canadian bill that made it a crime to misgender trans people. I did agree with him on that issue. Aside from that, I can't say I know much about his other views.

Labeled "Canada's Most Infamous Intellectual". He's only been known since he entered the political fray 5 or so years ago, and became a lightning rod of media attention and controversy. Until that point, he was an obscure professor of ancient mythology and psychology.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time for him, and is it really a grift if people really are constantly trying to censor and silence you, and ascribe views to you that you don't endorse? I'm thinking of that instant classic BBC interview with him where the interviewer spent the whole time asking him "have you stopped beating your wife yet?" style questions instead of just asking him what his views actually were; it was illuminating, but not in the way they wanted.

I'm not sure that would be an accurate description of Peterson's notability. One needs to be visible to a certain level in order for that grift to work. One needs to be visible enough and with enough platforms before they can portray criticism and disagreement as 'being cancelled'.

It might even be a legitimate concept when it comes to regular people (for as often as it might actually occur, which is debatable) but when it's a world famous "intellectual" they just come off as a whiny con artist looking for more attention.

Ive had heard his name. But thats about it. Dont know much about him. And even thats only because I go to Utube and see how his fellow Utubers talk about him- either defending him, or attacking him.

If a person had time to digest his books, or his Utube presentations, then a person could decide if ... they were one of the folks who ...passionately defend him, or one of the folks who passionately attack him. But I just havent had the time to do that. :lol:

of Disenfranchised, Mostly White Males Leaning Conservative

As His Dismissal of Marginalized Folks Making So-Called "Leftists"
The Common Enemies Serves to Bond And Bind Folks in the Story He

Provides For Directions for Males Who Have Lost Their Direction in Life

With A Common

For Them; And They Do in
Effect Worship Him Like A High

Nothing imaginary about it, he's quite well known, though people often have funny ideas of what his views actually are. That actually often works to his advantage, people hear all these crazy things about him, and then go see what he really said and discover that his positions are quite anodyne and sensible self help type stuff, and realize that many of his critics are deranged, dishonest, or both.
