I know you can't delete a post once a reply or post has been made after, but before I could delete if a post hadn't been made after, now I can't. It's annoying because sometimes I write a post then a couple of days later I change my mind and either want to delete it or copy and paste it to make a whole new thread then delete the post (if there's no more replies made since). But now you can't do that. Why?

 Nothing's changed in the site configuration to affect that.

"Limit edit time" (limits the time available to edit a new post) is still 300 seconds, and "Limit deletion time" (limits the time available to delete a new post) is still 1440 seconds.

Correction after later spotting a huge brainfart -
The allowed edit time is 300 minutes (5 hours).
The allowed delete time is 1440 minutes (24 hours).

Apart from the deletion time setting there is no other which dictates whether a post can be deleted or not.
The inability to delete a post once another follows it is "hard wired" into the forum software.

Are you quite sure the post isn't simply too old to delete?
You've said it's a couple of days old.

For ease, that's 5 mins & 24 mins respectively.

I'm sure I've deleted a post that was several years old before (a post that had been the last post in a thread all that time).

Hmm, I think you must be mistaken there.
There's nothing about the time available to delete a new post that can be over-ridden because it happens to be the last post in a thread.

I fairly often edit & delete posts that are a couple hours old. Maybe there's a glitch in the code

Ive tried to edit, cancel, or delete, posts more than a day old many times over the years. Never works. So I find it hard to believe that you were ever able to do that. Either you're mistaken, or you stumbled into some accidental hole in the digital fence that just closed.

Speaking of how this website works:

testing testing

"Chinese in the armor."

When I was replying to Joe above I originally wrote the word that rhymes with "sink" but starts with "ch". "A ch___ in the fence".

Just tested it again by writing the common expression "ch___ in the armor".

But this website changes that word into the word "Chinese".

It assumes that I am using that ch word as a racial slur! And censors it!

Brings to mind this from a few years back about a Dutch family name and a license plate,

I wonder what the forum will do with this Dutch-Canadian person from the publishing world,

Margreet Assleberg from Rebel Edit & Design. She is, not only an amazing designer, but a mind reader as well. I send her one obscure email and tell her I’m going to be a real pain on this one, and she’ll come back with virtually what I envisaged.

Yep. The auto-censor is a bear of very little brain.
You can't even mention a type of flat, usually square, savoury biscuit without getting a metaphorical tap on the wrist.

I love crackers, particularly Jacobs.

^ Blast! An escapee.
Maybe it's silly to censor one, uh, "biscuit", but it seems doubly silly to not also censor the plural.
Added.

The reason why "cracker" is censored-----is because it's a racial slur in the United States. It's what black people call white people when they want to insult them.

I thought there was no such thing as racial slur against white people.
