Monkeypox, from an aesthetics standpoint, should be avoided.

But I sense that this will be similar to the recent measles outbreaks—a cause for concern, but case numbers in the hundreds to maybe low thousands.

Not good….but not a pandemic.

They certainly picked an unfortunate time to publish this study...

I'm sure the timing was coincidental...

It is a remarkable coincidence, isn't it.

Quote:
A leading adviser to the World Health Organization described the unprecedented outbreak of the rare disease monkeypox in developed countries as “a random event” that might be explained by risky sexual behavior at two recent mass events in Europe.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Dr. David Heymann, who formerly headed WHO’s emergencies department, said the leading theory to explain the spread of the disease was sexual transmission among gay and bisexual men at two raves held in Spain and Belgium. Monkeypox has not previously triggered widespread outbreaks beyond Africa, where it is endemic in animals.

“We know monkeypox can spread when there is close contact with the lesions of someone who is infected, and it looks like sexual contact has now amplified that transmission,” said Heymann.

I'm getting the impression that the British media are, for the most part, trying to play this down, which might tell us that the British government at least are not about to fall over themselves to seize an opportunity to create panic in order to enforce measures to further destroy our way of life and to "build back better". The WHO and the WEF is another matter, it will be interesting to see how Canada and New Zealand, for example, respond to it should this virus take hold there. Early days though, things could change overnight.

I'm waiting to hear from people whose opinion I have a lot of respect for before trying to untangle what this actually is, what it means and how significant it might be, to health and/or civil liberties. Something like this was bound to pop up soon enough, with everybody now on edge "post-Covid", be that out of fear for their physical well-being or mental health. Let's hope it's just a false alarm and relatively harmless to both the people who catch it and the functioning of public life.

Sounds like a good start for Conspiracy Theories :chin:

But perhaps Hanlon's Razor should be applied :hmph: ...and the lab investigated for incompetence?

Given numerous examples of "safety standards" from Chinese construction sites circulating all over the internet, I find this possibility worth serious consideration.

News of accidents and blasts on the other side of the Earth usually don't even reach us but when it comes to contangious diseases, the whole world is concerned.

Monkeypox has nothing to do with China, or with Asia.

As a junior high student, I made up a character named Oohkee. He was an Australopithecine.

I don't know what "australopithecine" means, but I'm going to report it just to be on the safe side.
