Senator Ted Cruz has argued that the US Supreme Court decision to legalise gay marriage was “clearly wrong”, while discussing the possibility of its reversal.
“So look, Obergefell, like Roe v. Wade, ignored two centuries of our nation’s history,” the Texas Republican said on his show Verdict With Ted Cruz on Saturday.

“Marriage was always an issue that was left to the states.”

Mr Cruz was referencing Obergefell v. Hodges, the landmark decision that guaranteed the right to same-sex marriage nationwide in 2015, the New York Post reports.

I read about that...WTF is happening in America? And after that, they are targeting contraception laws for women, and possibly interracial marriage.

And guess what, our UK government is already making noises about restricting abortions and gay marriage.

They'd better not ban gay marriage, I'll be out there protesting as it would affect my family members!

This is how the GOP operate. They want to keep guns but ban civil rights.

They are targeting civil rights like the way Sarah Palin targeted democrat leaders. With gun sights firmly targeted.

Why can't Americans see what's happening and vote for sensible people? But maybe they don't care. I've seen some of them saying that all schools should have one entrance guarded all day by an armed guard.

What about fire exits? Is the guard sitting holding his gun all day without needing food or toilet breaks? etc. etc.

It's the same in Britain. 'Foreigners coming over here and taking our jobs' has been weaponised and the majority vote to stop these foreigners, that is all they care about.

They don't care because they think the Dems want to "persecute" and "replace" white, straight, Christian males.

Replace them with what?

People are going nutty. I think people in the UK think we're overrun with 'foreigners' and 'economic migrants.' We're not. But they are still voting to get rid of them.

Immigrants and people of color. The shooters at the Wal-Mart in El Paso (2019) and the Tops Supermarket in Buffalo (2022) adhered to the "Great Replacement" theory.

As far as persecution goes, some evangelicals believe that being kicked off Twitter or FB for posting derogatory remarks about LGBT people is proof that Christians are being "oppressed", and that their freedom of speech is being curtailed.

It isn't, because FB and Twitter are privately owned. However, in other countries, such as Germany and Sweden, hate speech is a criminal offense, and such posts or tweets can land someone in jail.

Even so much as quoting verses from the Bible or Quran that condemn certain groups is illegal.

The U.S. needs similar laws.

Oh yes, I've heard of the idea that straight, white, Christian men are now the oppressed minority.

It's similar in Britain. The right wing people shout loudly for freedom of speech because they are 'being silenced.' Oh dear. They only have the newspapers/media of the Telegraph, the Express, the Sun, the Times, the Daily Mail to express themselves with and read. All run by billionaire white men who don't live in Britain.

They're trying their best in Britain. As well as disabled and old people.

I am worried they will ban premarital and nonmarital sex, and any sex act not resulting in procreation.

Those things should be mandatory, not illegal.

Besides, evangelicals, Catholics and Muslims need to see what it's like when the shoe is on the other foot. They love controlling peoples' bodies so much, let's see how they love it when the favor is returned.

Jeez I hope they don't ban that! Surely you are joking, they can't ban sex.

In the middle ages they tried, but then the aristocratic class realised they had nobody to throw into the frontlines at times of war or grow their food or clean their castles.

I've been thinking about this. Any autistic or disabled person that's been reveling in the removal of Roe vs. Wade and the possibility of these other rights being revoked should prepare themselves. Unlike all of these other issues a fair amount of people won't notice or care when they finally come to reduce the rights disabled people have, especially developmentally disabled people. This is a massive slippery slope that's going to eventually bite all of us in the ass, and any autistic person supporting it is just shooting themselves in the foot.
