What are some of your goals?

Mine include:

- Get out of low income housing in the next few months (I’ve been in it for years)
- Improve my piano playing skills, so I can play some of my favorite pieces
- Make progress in French (I want to read French novels)
- Read more Spanish novels
- Get healthier (BORING but a good idea)
- Better manage stress, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms

Right now?

Clean house in preparation for my upcoming retirement.

After that, pack for an extended vacation overseas.

Where are you going for vacation?
The Philippines!  A little island between Cebu and Mindanao called " Sequijor ".

Among the many attractions are the beaches, caves, waterfalls, Bandila‑an natural park and butterfly sanctuary.  The most popular of them are the Cambugahay Falls, Paliton Beach and the centuries-old Balete tree, both located in Lazi.

The coral reefs ringing the island offer some of the best diving in the Philippines for snorkelers and scuba divers.  Dive courses are conducted by several dive operators on the island in version of PADI, CMAS* and NAUI.  Siquijor was declared a marine visitor arrivals among the three provinces in Region VII.

That sounds like fun. I’m jealous!

It is getting progressively more difficult to find out-of-the-way places that still retain their native charm while providing just enough services and entertainment for visiting tourists.

Anyway, after that, the missus and I will be spending a few month living in a guest house on a farm further to the north.

Our goals are to relax and get to know our neighbors.

I wouldn’t know. I’ve never really traveled. The most exciting thing I’ve done was hike a couple of mountains. My favorite was Mt. Katahdin in Maine.

I’ve never been out of the country unless you count the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.

To get married, but hasn't happened yet because I can't make my mind up what to wear, where to have it, how much to spend on it, who to invite, etc etc. To be honest I'd rather just go into a room, wearing whatever I like, and just sign the marriage certificate.

Maybe that’s what you should do. I, personally, think that weddings are highly overrated.

I'll be retiring in a little more than five months' time.

I haven't any plans as of yet----but it would be ideal if I could get a "round the world" ticket, and travel the world.

Maybe it’s time to start making plans.

Where do you especially want to go?

A lot of mine seem to be about recovering things I've lost.

-Recover my fitness, be able to run 10+ miles regularly again.
-Start writing fiction again, I wrote a novel which trashed my confidence and I need to get it back
-Get my garden back from the wild so I can grow vegetables next year
-Get another income stream going
-Get rid of a lot of the crap that clogs up my home (I live with a hoarder).

Short term, I want to fix my car and go help a friend get ready for winter off-grid. I might move into one room and let my workshop get cold to save energy this winter. Overall, I'm trying to wrap up my affairs so that it will remain possible for others to continue my research.
