There is a lot of evidence of those values being the norm in the UK as well.

Perhaps high school is the training ground, to equip most people (those who play by the the social rules), to compete in the dog-eat-dog world of mainstream society.

You forgot to mention that her father is one of the most eccentric rich men alive today; he wants to open hotels in space. That, and other things that fail to come to mind makes the combination of sexy daughter/eccentric family so appealing, IMHO

Paris doesn't have a sister. Nicole is Nicole Richie, the daughter of music mougul and motown ledgend Lionel Richie.

Actually, she does have a sister, named Nicky. Nicky doesn't have the same overblown level of notoriety as Paris.

I think people also get a kick out of how Paris is marrying someone with the same name.

I'll tell you how she got famous.

Money can buy you anything (nearly) as long as you have enough of it.

She got out into the limelight through acting like a spoilt brat in high profile parties and clubs.

I don't really have any real problems with her, except for the fact she's a loose canon. (pun intended.)
