Please somebody tell me you can identify. I'm actually alarmed by this, but I have to leave work early. My kiosk was place right in view of customers in line, people are constantly in my personal space and so much is going on! Talking to each other right in my face and like I'm not even there(I don't want their attention but it just makes it so awkward) I'm this close to causing a scene. I'm physically tensed and its painful. I've had this before but never fully had it explained. I can't tell my family, they don't understand

You might try wearing a Covid mask even if you don't need one. It may help keep people from getting too close and discourage conversations.

I do wear a mask and I totally agree!! Thanks for that. I'm also bringing a writing pad to look busy.

I wouldn't be able to do that job.
More power to you, if you can.

Would you be able to use earplugs?

You should probably get another job.

I wear 1 plug with my Bluetooth and some music softly. Its so intrusive where I'm at plus the people are either not friendly or I can't read them. I need a new job for real. Would a diagnosis make it easier to find better work or no?

Are there other jobs you can do with the same employer, that aren't front line?
I don't know if an Autism diagnosis would make a difference specifically.
If you have sensory issues you could get a doctor's note / OT note about sensory.
You can present the issues individually instead of with an Autism diagnosis.

I wouldn't be able to do a job of that nature.

Great idea I'll explore that option while I wait to win the lottery for diagnosis. And its not just customers, a lot of staff are just moving up in front of me and talking amongst them selves. I'm this close to getting ugly.

I had to walk out again. Staff members are standing with their buyts in my face. I had to walk out before I made a scene. I think I have to go back  eating first. Called access and crisis # the guy was so cold

I can certainly sympathise. I had a similar problem at work once, only it wasn't that bad. They put me far too close to some noisy young people and I couldn't concentrate for their explosive yacking. We had very small desks and had to work elbow-to-elbow. One of them kept encroaching on my desk space with their stuff. Horrible experience. I didn't want to risk telling them to p** off and STFU, so I used closed-back headphones and played soothing music through them. When that wasn't enough, I just walked out and came back later when the annoying people had gone. I was lucky that the place wasn't strongly managed. Nobody ever complained about my solution. I don't think they even noticed what I was doing. To stop them encroaching onto my desk with their stuff, I made a little wall out of something or other - I can't remember what, but it was effective. I hate being invaded. I hope you find a solution.

That's extremely helpful. I might switch to a food sampler. I also applied for donation processor for goodwill.
