I'm thinking about trying to switch over to Reddit. This website really is dying. :skull:

Some members don't visit WP simply because they've moved on in their lives and no longer feel a need to post here.

The life circumstances of others - a new job, demanding a full and rewarding concentration for example - mean that it's no longer possible to spare the same amount of time being active here; they quietly drift away.

For others, having adapted or learned how to better handle their particular flavor of ASD, WP's solutions or discussions around ASDs are much less relevant to them - in that sense, the site has helped and served its purpose.

There is also the rise of many other forms of social media, often with more immediate and lively responses on a huge range of topics, which may be a more attractive draw and pull further posters away.

The only constant in life is change, and WP membership is not immune to this.

WP is kind of like an online version of
a. a train station where new people come and go everyday except for those of us who are "homeless" and have nowhere else to go so stay here and call out random things to passersby

And/or

b. Like the bar in the sitcom Cheers where the same group of folks come back everyday to chat.

What do your cards say?

Good question. :D

Image

All three cards are red heart cards which means a definite "yes". They also are all in reverse: Page of Cups, Knight of Cups, and 10 of Hearts/Cups.

The Page of Cups symbolizes immaturity (on my part). An inability to control his imagination as he stares at the fish looking back at him frok the chalice.

The Knignt of Cups gives too easily into conflict losing self-control and surrendering to his emotions.

The 10 of Hearts aka Cups is about complete happiness and a sense of family/community. Clearly I am unable to find that here because this is in reverse position.

The happiness this website once gave me is fading away just as the rainbow slowly fades after a storm.

I've made all the friends I'm ever going to make here. So maybe I will find peace in knowing this.

Bye everybody. Peace!

The real mystery to me is the 12:00 midnight to 9 am slot (UK time). This is usually more or less dead for the whole period. I used to think this was because everyone was asleep, but when you take into account the timezone factor, it's only early evening for many of the USA membership at his time. Is the relatively small UK contingent in effect the lifeblood of this site? Look at the posting traffic, especially in 'Off The Wall' and 'Random Discussion' and you might think so.

I'm usually awake and alive then.
In fact, I'm seldom asleep before then.
It does seem to die unless you're on.

Good point. The alien that represents WrongPlanet.net -- that green alien at the top of the webpages -- just spoke to me a few minutes ago, and he/she/it said:

"Excuse me, I'd like to comment on this discussion about whether I'm dead. I must say, the reports about my death have been highly exaggerated."

There are sites that haven't gotten any posts for years.

Wouldn't it be neat if social media went out of fashion and all the previous members came rolling back in to this peapod?

I visited a site I was previously banned from today and the last post on that particular site was October 4th.

This place is like Clapham Junction compared to that
