An antisemitic, anti disabled, pseudo-socialist party that counts success as how much media coverage it's gets as a perpetual protest party , vs a radical but pragmatic party that is a 'broad church', and sees electability as the cornerstone of actually helping people?
I'm not too deeply oriented in UK politics but what you describe - a radical ever-protesting, often self-contradicting group and a pragmatic electable one - seem like regular "wings" forming in most of big parties.

There's very little that's truly radical about the 1st lot. Their quixotic desire to enable the Tories until their version of an ideologically pure party can be achieved is regressive and not progressive.

I doubt there's any party or group in the world that's entirely homogenous. I don't doubt that many have characterised Labour as 2 groups (generally a left wing and a right wing), and I sometimes use that reductionist view to make it easier to think about them, but I think in reality every individual member has a unique ideological profile.

Well...The history of the Black Civil Rights Movement in the US in the mid Twentieth Century is essentially - the story of how American Blacks made an alliance with the Democratic Party in order to defeat the most entrenched and implacable enemy of the Black Civil Rights Movement...which was...the Democratic Party!
While the GOP stood on the sidelines.
If one of our parties can have a dual personality why cant one of yours?

Every political party is a surrey with a lunatic fringe on top!
At least the big tent (two party system) type parties of both UK and the US are. In Europe countries have zillions of tiny splinter parties. And some, arguably, are entirely lunatic fringe.
