Yes.
Seriously, is "second life" a phrase people like us use quite often?
Mmmm...I really dont know if you are having a laugh at it or that you dont have a clue what second life is?
In case you´re not kidding, it´s (
game..well more than that really..) : a virtual 3D world where you can sort of "lead a second life" since you can interact with "residents" from all over the world, socialize (can even have virtual sex?!?!, bit scary..), buy, sell, create, have your own island, work, etc, however you could use it properly as an educational tool for instance, going to uni classes or courses....:
"Second Life has recently emerged as one of the cutting-edge virtual classrooms for major colleges and universities, including the Open University (UK), Harvard, Vassar, Pepperdine, Drexel, Rice, University College Dublin, Elon University, Ohio University, Ball State, New York University, University of Houston, Australian Film Television and Radio School, Stanford University, Delft University of Technology, AFEKA Tel-Aviv Academic College of Engineering,Barcelona University and Madrid Complutense University..."
Most major banks, politicians (using it as a campaign oportunity), writers and famous people are in SL since they´ve realized its a huge source of publicity for all of them, businesses that advertise or set up shops on Second Life have the economic goal of making Real Profit out of it in Real life...
its scary really and some people can get mixed up with this Second Life and the Real one..thats the main problem about it..we´ll see all the consequences of it in the near future i guess...
It can be entertainment but it can be dangerous too for some people, psychologically speaking..
However I find it interesting from a psychological point of view to see how people will act in this SL playing the same role as in Real Life in general..
You better have a look at it and find out it yourself if you wish to.:
