Being sensitive to loud noises (or noises in general) is a common trait for those of us on the spectrum.

Interestingly, however, I'm not sensitive to noise. The only time I get peeved by noise is when I'm trying to fall asleep (but that's a complaint a lot of neurotypicals have too).

Random, repetitive, stop start noises can make me feel tense. Noises where I can't tell where the noise is coming from can ramp up my paranoia.

I have misophonia. It got me bullied a lot in school.

It's like an allergy to a specific list of sounds.

I'm sensitive enough to noises. It's more problematic if I'm stressed. The sound of some electronics in my house are irritating; my treadmill if I forget to unplug it, the lights in my kitchen, the modem.. Sometimes I cut off the power to my house just to get some silence. Other sounds, I like though and find calming. My heater has this deep sound that vibrates the house and my god is it soothing. Not all noises are bad, I mean.

Summer can be brutal with the neighbors running lawn mowers and junk. Loud places like restaurants are too much for me after a bit. It's hard to know though how much is noise and how much is other input. But I do prefer quiet places. All in all, I manage fine enough though. I'm sure it could be worse.

I'm very easily distracted by certain noise and cannot ignore it. Babies crying is one of my biggest noise phobias. I envy everyone else who can think "aw it's only a baby, it can scream all it wants, I'll quite happily endure it with ease". I just can't think that way. Sorry. Otherwise, babies are cute.

Low thumping noises in the room above always hurts my ears for some reason. It's not the volume, it's the pitch and how the sound travels from higher floors down to lower floors. I have to wear noise-cancelling headphones when at home because the people in the apartment above us only have to walk across their floor and it feels like my ear drums are about to burst.

And lastly there are noises that make me jump, like car horns. I am very easily startled so it's quite painful to my nerves when some sudden loud noises occur. People sneezing often startles me too. I don't know why.
For some reason fireworks don't startle me.

Yep, I'm very vigilant to sounds even though my hearing tests below average for my age. I can't hear sounds others can't, but I am sensitive to sounds others know how to tolerate.

It depends. If I am in sensory overload mode, then any noise can be overwhelming. If I am in a more relaxed, sleepy state, then I can filter noises out better.

Yes.

I have sharp hearing, I hear coil whine in electronics and CRT TV picture tube from across the house through several walls.

I heard arguments by deaf people that supposedly high frequencies can't pass through walls, well, booolshit!
