To clarify, what movies did you watch you believed were going to be good, but were awful and what movies did you watch you thought were going to be awful, but were great?

You don't have to go into detail. :)

IMO, easily it were (in no particular order, all were great movies):

The Lost City

Marcel the Shell with Shoes On

Turning Red

Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro

Nope

The Batman (the narration at the beginning was brilliant)

Doctor Strange 2

I never saw any movies that many considered as "awful."

It sucks to have film burnout. For the past couple of years the recently made movies I watched -- Nobody, The Batman, Bullet Train, SAS Red Notice, Tenet have been okay, not bad. They don't blow me away or leave me disappointed. I do like the UHD quality from blu ray discs. It's so much better than DVD and I understand that some movie watchers aren't too bothered by picture quality as long as it looks good enough.

I heard good things about Top Gun: Maverick though.

released in U.S. theaters in August 2022, this film starring Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner was unexpectedly good— and tight and tense! :P
