While Gingrich is right - now - it must be remembered that he had been responsible for caustic and dirty politics that eventually led the way to the Trumpian cult of personality and the MAGA lunatic fringe now disrupting congress.

Not for long.
Kevin Rudd is the new Australian ambassador to Aammeerriiaa.
Perhaps he can give "The Grand Old Party" a few tips.

He has a lot to say.
Just ask ANYONE.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese once said it was “complete nonsense” and part of a media obsession — but now it’s come true.

Q: Did Newt Gingrich ask his former wife to sign divorce papers on her deathbed?
A: No. Jackie Battley is still alive, and the couple was already in divorce proceedings at the time of the 1980 hospital visit. But she was recovering from surgery to remove a tumor, and the former House speaker admits that they “got into an argument.”

What is definitely true is, Jackie had been his high school counselor, but their May/December romance didn't work out as she aged, he saying she was "too ugly to be first lady" (he used to harbor Presidential ambitions). So he cheated on her, left her, then married his partner in infidelity. When the second wife got sick, Gingrich cheated with the current tart he's with. I expect to see a fourth Mrs. Gingrich when number three gets too old and sick.

Personally, I'd give Newt the thumbs down.
