IMO, if WB wants an animated rotoscoped Superman film in the style of the old animated Superman shorts, then Richard Linklater would do a great job despite the fact rotoscoping takes a strong effort and a long time to complete because rotoscoping is a complex form of animation.

As for other directors, James Mangold could do a great job making a great Superman movie especially after he did The Wolverine and Logan because both films caught many people off-guard given the excellent quality of both films.

If not, WB should consider Sam Raimi or Guillermo Del Toro.
