No, not really. People are generally nice. Especially in the Winter/snowy climates -> people depend on one another for survival, so they’re nice to each other.

When Vancouver experiences a bit of actual Winter people get Very Nice to one another. Shovelling snow, pushing stuck cars, offering rides etc.

And yet so many Canadians I've met were rather rude to me the moment they found out I was an American.

I remember years ago on a Resident Evil video game message board around the time that the Parkland mass shooting happened in Florida this one Canadian guy actually laughed at me and told me "You guys love to shoot at each other down there don't you?"

Now I'm not saying all Canadians are bad people (and neither is everybody in the deep south believe it or not). But I get it, Canadians tend to not like Americans. They didn't like us even before Trump took over. :|

Of course these are generalizations.. but Americans don’t just have a bad reputation in Canada - it’s across much of the world.

My brother used to be a cruise travel agent for a decade or so and Americans have a bad reputation in Many countries for their behaviour + reputation from things that happen in the USA as well
as how the USA treats other nations.. bth recently and in the past.

But Canadians tend to have a good reputation and be welcomed most places. The difference in reputation is well o won enough that some American tourists will sew Canadian flag patches on their bags and pretend to be Canadian so they don’t get treated like unwelcome Americans.

Is what it is and bad reputations take a very long time to shake.

In other words Canadians are prejudice towards Americans. Thank you for proving my point.

Sorry, not just Canadians. Every country in the whole world apparently hates us.

And you know what? I no longer care.

@ RedDeath

Its not that you should be histrionically nihilistic about it.

Its that you shouldnt take it personally.

If someone on your gaming site from nation X has an attitude about "Americans" as an abstract collective -its got nothin to do with you personally as an individual. Indeed if said foreigner objects to something about the US that you ALSO object to...(like the gun issue) you have the opportunity to bond with that person over that issue.

I'll take "Histrionic Nihilism" for $400 Alex. :nerdy:

Trump says he would 'absolutely' testify in his New York criminal trial

Quote:
Former President Donald Trump told reporters Friday he would "absolutely" testify in his upcoming hush money trial that is set to begin on Monday.

"Yeah, I would testify, absolutely," he said in response to a question from NBC News.

Trump, who is charged with 34 counts of first-degree falsifying business records, repeatedly called the trial a "scam" during his press conference at Mar-a-Lago.

Jury selection in the trial, which is expected to last six to eight weeks, begins Monday.

"I'm testifying. I tell the truth, I mean, all I can do is tell the truth. And the truth is that there is no case," Trump said.

Trump is not required to testify in his own criminal trial. If he chooses to do so, he would be subject to cross-examination by the prosecution, when he could be quizzed in a myriad of topics while under oath — including the nature of his relationship with porn star Stormy Daniels.

On Friday, the judge in the case denied Trump's bid to delay the trial on the grounds of too much pretrial publicity.

Even his sh***y lawyers that keep making bumbling mistakes should be smart enough to advise him not to testify. The only way he will is if he insists on it because he just can't resist the opportunity to yap. Otherwise I predict he won't and he'll blame someone or something else.. he'll say he Wanted to but his campaign advised him that the dirty democrats would spy on his testimony then manipulate it with AI deep fake software to make him look like an idiot as part of their election interference or some BS like that.
