   indeed.

When Jesus began His teachings, many who encountered Him said He was "Moses 2.0."

In reality, the religious right just ignores Christ's leftist leanings, and promotes the completely Godless prosperity gospel, while taking stands that anyone should know is antithetical to His teachings.

OMG! AT first I thought this was a serious article. But no. It's satire. It's good satire too. It really roasts the hypocrites.
I'm relieved that it's satire. I was soooo ready to pounce on the idea. But no. It's not really that bad out there in the real world.

My response to prosperity gospel: Wishful thinking doesn’t make you rich.

My response to people who hate prosperity gospel: If human beings weren’t worth anything to God, Jesus wouldn’t have died to save us. It is not a sin to believe in yourself and your own worth. Enjoy this world and what it has to offer. It is God’s gift to you.

But what about peoples' belief that God prefers those who enrich themselves? That one is bizarre.

Well, scripture is somewhat open to being interpreted as whatever the interpreter wants it to be. Beats me why anybody ever believes those who say they know exactly what it all means. No wonder we've got so many brands of the same religion at loggerheads with each other.

But Jesus DID own an AR-15. That part is true!

There were photographs taken at the time that proved it, but left-wingers burned them.

You could even make the argument that Jesus was a proto-socialist since he told his followers to sell everything they have in order to be a disciple of His.He was certainly a liberal by First Century Jewish standards.

I believe what Jesus said about Himself and what the apostles witnessed makes Jesus one with God. To argue Jesus was a liberal or conservative misses the entire point.

Whether one believes Jesus was a liberal or conservative is going to depend on whether one likes Jesus or not. If you are a liberal and you like Jesus, you probably think Jesus was a liberal. If you're a conservative and you like Jesus, you probably think Jesus was an open-carry, gun-toting, free speech activist out to free an adulteress from the academic liberal establishment.

The apostles believed Jesus is the Messiah. Why not just leave it at that?

Of course, the opposite is also true. If you hate Jesus and you're a liberal, you probably think Jesus was a misogynist, closeted homosexual having a public secret affair with Mary Magdalene who was the ACTUAL founder of the Christian movement. If you hate Jesus and you're a conservative, you're probably an atheist (some conservatives are actually atheists) who thinks Jesus was a bleeding heart parasite activist telling everyone to quit their jobs and leech off of taxpayers.

I think that if Jesus were around today, he wouldn't even recognise himself in the stories christianity, or even the bible, tells about him. The historical Jesus was probably just jewish and wasn't even trying to start a new religion.

Considering the main commandments are "love one another" and the Golden Rule, I don't see how anyone would be surprised about him being Liberal. I don't know the story of the Bible or all the moving pieces but if it all boils down to love and treating people kindly I assume that's as Liberal as it can be. The churches where I am are pro-LGBTQ+ as part of scripture, even Catholic and Anglican. My Anglican church had a married, gay rector for many years as well as women and a woman bishop. Gay weddings are likely more common that hetero, since marriage rates have dropped so much in the hetero community.

Actually the "golden rule" rule appeared in multiple ancient societies independently. It goes back many thousands of years before Christianity and possibly before even Judaism existed.
