Besides solitaire, what are some games you can play alone without anyone else?

Most video games.

I like racing games, at least when the AI is good.

Roguelikes are by definition single player and can get really interesting, but they have a steep difficulty curve. Because of the turn system, you have infinite time to make a decision, which takes away a lot of stress, although due to RNG the game is not 100% predictable and different every time.

There alot.of.single player rpgs. and platformers.

If you are interested in old-school tabletop RPGs, you could sit down with a couple of the books and design your own 'dungeon' and build an adventure around it.  You could also roll up a few characters.

There are various kinds of Solitaire-style card games, as well.

Peg Game:

I can play this for hours when I'm stressed.

Rush Hour:

I was given this game in stroke therapy, for neurological recovery and hand / eye coordination.
It's really fun and can be addictive if I don't force myself to stop.
I'm extremely bad at it, but who cares!

Playing chess against yourself is good practice at that. Golf, bowling, and billiards can be played alone. I don't know many board games but I'm sure there are some you could find for one person. I guess you could play Jenga alone?

Most games from Think Fun and Smart games.
Some board games like Super Dungeon Explore

I enjoy a game of pocket billiards.

"Geri's Game" notwithstanding, how do you play chess with yourself?

Aren't golf, bowling and billiards supposed to be played with at least one other person?

You can't compete without another person, but practising those sports is basically the same as playing them, only alone.

Aren't you supposed to play, say, racing games with someone else?

When it comes to horror games, playing them with a partner just doesn't feel the same. It is kind of fun, I suppose. But it does ruin the feeling of being terrified.

I prefer games where somebody just goes to a place, fully unaware of any creatures or ghosts lurking there. It builds up the tension. Now in RE for example, they are always using super powerful weaponry. It is zapping away the tension you would feel playing the older entries in the franchise. You know?

Just card games? Or board games? Or any games? Most video games can be played solo.

Mahjong has a solitaire variation that is quite popular.
Playing Scrabble by yourself would probably be good practice.
Cross-word puzzles, Sudoku, word search, Mad-Libs, word scrambles, nonograms (Picross)...

Pinball is quite enjoyable, I think. Mini golf/putting. Bowling and billiards (as mentioned). Darts. POGs. Marbles. Squash. Whatever those games are called that are like curling (get the object closest to the target). Horseshoes. Etc.

Any sort of game that requires dexterity, I think, is fun to practice by yourself. Sometimes I will even keep alternate scores to see which "me" wins.

Most racing games have AI controlled opponents, but some, like Out Run, just go by a timer. Even ones with opponents will usually have a "time attack" mode, where you try to beat your fastest times.

Why then does, say, "Out-Run" have other cars on the road, as though you need to beat them? Or are they just obstacles meant only to get in your way?

I haven't been bowling in a long time, but when I did, I never practiced, because I was always with someone. I didn't even know that it was possible to do so (to just go over there to practice, I mean).
