My Great Aunt Delores does - especially because it's her birthday and she's still alive! :P She said growing up as a little girl she always thought the fireworks were for her! This July 4th she'll be 91 years young. And she's legit the youngest 91 year old I know. She drives a red convertible mustang (but has stopped driving at night or in heavy rain now), does 10km on an elliptical trainer 3x/week, still golfs and walks the course, maintains a the most positive attitude of anyone on my mother's (aspie) side of the family etc. She's a dual citizen so can criss cross the border more easily than us Canadians and has sometimes had her birthday at her cabin (trailer) in Washington state just to be able to go down to the marina and watch the 4th of July fireworks.

Myself, *shrug*, other than it being my aunt's bday I don't really care as it's not that big of deal to Me as a Canadian - and neither is July 1st Canada Day all thaaaat important to me, either. Kind of hard to celebrate genocide of Indigenous peoples.

I'll be listening to The Kinks and drinking tea all day on both days.

I suppose I will wear my patriotic unicorn knee high socks that day, not sure what else, maybe see about venturing into the park by my apartment to see if I can see any fireworks from there. I don't want to go to a fireworks show...too crowded but I wouldn't hate to at least see some while being further away from crowds.

Since I was conceived on the 4th of July, the date is significant to me.  Fireworks are also fun to watch.

I like visiting with my family, but I usually go home early because (a) I can't stand crowds for fireworks, and (b) since I'm at home alone at that time, I need to watch over my dog, who I am very protective of. When my parents open the door to get inside, I worry she will try to get out and run away.

I'm not an American, so it's an ordinary summer day for me. And I have work that day.

One question guys: why do they use fireworks on 4th of July? I mean, in the middle of the summer, isn't there a huge risk of the fireworks causing fires? Is it really worth it?

No more risk of fire than in any other season.

The US is mostly in the temperate zone. So it makes sense to observe a summer holiday with outdoor activities.

And its tradition.

One of the signers of the Declaration of Independence said "this day will be remembered with bonfires and loud fire crackers for centuries to come" after he signed it on...well July 3rd...he was a day off in his prediction.

As it comes with a lot of sudden loud noises it makes me very jumpy. But the Fireworks are pretty.

Off Topic
In recent years because of all that has been happening in America, it makes me so very sad

I know what you mean. I wonder what's a good way to protest :chin: Perhaps dressing up as Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars instead of Uncle Sam

^^^When my dad was a kid a classmate of his lost some fingers making a bomb out of fireworks.

Last night when I was on the phone with my parents I found out my dad had proposed to my mom a couple days after the 4th of July. I never known the 4th to be a big deal for my parents but it's interesting to find that out. Of corse they might of told me that before & I forgot  My memory sux sometimes but I can remember other things very well
