I opened this site on my laptop for the first time in a long time and after cloudflare did it's thing I saw a screen reading "You have been permanently banned from this board... A ban has been issued on your IP address"

Anyone else getting this? I managed to log in.

Granted I haven't used this laptop for personal stuff in months, so maybe I was banned for a while. I don't know. It's not really important, but thought I might report the glitch.

I suspect I know what the issue was - you should be able to log on now.

Just a comment about the message I saw when I had this problem earlier this morning:

Quote:
You have been permanently banned from this board.

Please contact the Board Administrator for more information.

A ban has been issued on your IP address.

(Underline mine.)

... where "Board Administrator" was a link to an email address of Alex's.

Shouldn't there be a different email address there, not Alex's, given that Alex isn't usually active on this board? Maybe an address that automatically forwards to all the admins and mods?

Another question: You would never really permanently ban a longtime member without any prior warnings, would you?

I agree - "Board Administrator" should email all moderators, at least.
IIRC it's been suggested in the past, but...

Correct - a permanent ban is normally imposed only after a series of PMs and/or warnings.
