I think thats one of the benefits of AS, the ability to think outside the box and/or see further. Rest assured you are not alone!

I'v been called "that weirdo, that weird girl who LIKES to read, ect.ect" my WHOLE life,(and I'm old) needless to say school was an awful experience for me, and really has "scarred me" on some level I think. It used to really devastate me, but now I take a lot of pride in that fact that I don't fit in, I decided if that how "Normal" people are,(bullies, superficial who only see the surface and judge you only on that and don't get to know you) i'd much rather be" that weirdo" I always KNEW who I was on the inside, and was always o.k. w/ who I am. Now when someone says to me "Your a little weird" and they still do even at this age, I smile and say"Thank You" and I mean it sincerly.Think about it...do you really want to be like them?

When I'm called weird, I take that as a compliment. It means I am interesting.

I am NT and have 2 sons - 9 and 7 with Asperger's.

The kids in the class call them smart and different. I realise that eventually they may be called weird, but I want them to remember the smart part.

Regards
Hele

When they call you a weirdo because you like to read, that tells you what their problem is right there.

I pride myself on being seen as "that weird guy" - especially at work, where I'm surrounded by a multitude of bores for eight hours a day.

At least I'm doing my own thing...

I am called weird by my family, but that is because I talk about parakeets and cockatiels all day long.

I'm being called weird as well and I don't cared what they said that makes them say weird.

it was more like "Obsessive reading" the school even made a deal w/ Walden Books so I could get any paperback I wanted for free since I'd read thru our school library. It WAS weird, but who are they to judge anybody is how I see it? and that wasn't the only thing I got called "Weird "for i'm sure. Trust me I AM a little weird but I'm cool w/ it now! Back then it really hurt me.

:D  EMBRACE YOUR WEIRDNESS AND LOVE THYSELF  :D hehehe
