I remember when my son told me about the show, I'd just listened to at least some podcasts about him. Blackbeard is played by Taika Waititi, and my son and I are both fans. I cannot remember which podcasts they were. Possibly Stuff You Should Know. I'm not 100% certain about that. The second season of Aaron Mahnke's Grim & Mild Presents was about Pirates. This American Life had a story about Stede Bonnet as well. I remember hearing that a loooong time ago.
And I knew KitLily could describe it better then me. I should watch season 1 again. Thank you.
It was very good.
(I'll shut up now)
You are far too kind
You'd probably be interested in two new books:
Blackbeard Reconsidered: Mist's Piracy, Thache's Genealogy by Baylus Brooks
this is a very slim book but the author has almost certainly discovered who the real Blackbeard was.
The Life and Tryals of the Gentleman Pirate, Major Stede Bonnet by Jeremy R. Moss
This is a biography of Stede Bonnet, very interesting.
(I haven't finished this yet)
What intrigues me is, obviously Blackbeard is very, very famous. Even though he was only a pirate for about 3 years.
He spent a lot of time with Stede Bonnet, so why isn't Bonnet equally as famous?
