I doubt that would be allowed in the US even if we got enough snow. The cities would consider them a home that is not up to code.
lol same here.. but they'd Look so much prettier than the tent encampments dotted around the region, so the city might just let them slide as some sort of "Olympic Legacy street art," or something.
Some of the tents and things look pretty bad, others are Very well kept, neat and tidy with no junk or crap strewn about.. nicely tarped off "tiny homes," made of tents & campers and scrap materials etc. Some encampments have been disbanded, others sort of officially sanctioned.. there's one right down by the ocean that has had power run to it, but it's a notoriously sketchy unsafe place populated by the kinds of people you might find in a maximum security prison in a horror movie. Apparently police no longer patrol there and just send a drone over to have a look instead.. and outsiders are warned by anyone in the know not to go there because there are armed people prone to random violence - it's a curiosity for sure, but not the kind of place you go without an invitation and an escort.
Other makeshift homes are well hidden & camouflaged - most people would never know they're even there. And I bet there are more and more of them popping up in parks and woods as more and more people lose their homes. So many people are just one missed paycheque, or less, from being out on the streets and having to figure out shelter from the elements. For many, that means their car/truck, but others ? not so lucky.
