Are six packs/abs fairly straightforward to develop or not?

It depends on how much fat you tend to put on your mid-section.

Can it depend on your bmi to an extent as well?

Get a two pack. Is cheaper and less waste.

Yes, it mainly comes down to having a low bodyfat percentage (i.e. <15% for men). Which means having a calorie deficit (aka eating less calories).

It also depends how you distribute your fat. If you carry less fat on your mid-section, you may see abs at 16%, whereas people who carry more of their fat on their mid-section may have to get down to 12% to see abs.

Definitely. Even someone who tends to be lean around the middle can still have too much fat for their abs to show.

It's all about your body fat really, though you can obv build up the muscle a bit.

Not worth it IMO. Too all consuming.
