Israel Doesn't Even Try To Hide Its Genocide On The Palestinians | Ambassador Chas Freeman

This video, dated Nov 20, 2023, is described as follows:

Quote:
Interview part 1 of 3 with former US Ambassador Chas Freeman.

Well, this is as bad as it gets. A Genocide in plain sight, for everyone to see, merciless and cold blooded and "the West" with all its human rights talk, with all its hubris is in full support—maybe give the Palestinians a coffee break before continue killing them, but that's about the maximum the West is willing to concede to the victims.

Ambassador Chas Freeman is one of the view former US public officials willing to speak out against this travesty. In addition, he is a superb analyst of West Asian and World Affairs. In this interview, he analyses what the current tragedy in Palestine will mean for Geopolitics in the region and beyond.

Here is a Wikipedia pageabout the interviewee, Chas W. Freeman Jr., an American retired diplomat. Brief summary of his career, according to Wikipedia:

Quote:
He served in the United States Foreign Service, the State and Defense Departments in many different capacities over the course of thirty years. Most notably, he worked as the main interpreter for Richard Nixon during his 1972 China visit and served as the U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 1989 to 1992, where he dealt with the Persian Gulf War.

He is a past president of the Middle East Policy Council, co-chair of the U.S. China Policy Foundation and a Lifetime Director of the Atlantic Council.

The video is produced by Neutrality Studies.

The state of Israel was a colonial designed social experiment. It remains a work in progress. Needs a lot of work.

Back on November 19, 2019, Electronic Intifada called attention to a very disturbing video that appeared briefly on an Israeli state-owned TV channel, Kan News:

Quote:
WATCH: Israeli children sing, "We will annihilate everyone" in Gaza, against a background of destruction.

Disturbing video was posted, then deleted by Israeli national broadcaster @kann_news
.

The video, with English subtitles added, can be viewed here.

The original video, without English subtitles, can be found in an Internet Archive capture of a now-deleted page on the Kan News website.

More stories about it here:

- euronews
- Al Mayadeen
- Middle East Eye

According to euronews:

Quote:
Turns out this video is indeed real and was posted by the Israeli group The Civil Front.

According to their website, they claim to be "apolitical" and say their goal is to raise support for the Israeli army.

The video is titled 'Friendship Song 2023' and is an adaptation of a famous poem commemorating Jews killed in the run-up to the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948.

The original song does not contain hostile lyrics towards Gaza, unlike the 2023 adaptation, according to the French newspaper Liberation.

According to Electronic Infitada:

Quote:
Israel’s national broadcaster Kan uploaded this song to X (formerly Twitter) in which Israeli children sing in celebration and support for the Israeli army’s mass extermination campaign of Palestinians in Gaza.

The sweet faces of children make an incongruous accompaniment to the genocidal lyrics of the so-called Friendship Song 2023.

“Autumn night falls over the beach of Gaza, planes are bombing, destruction, destruction,” the children sing in angelic voices. “Within a year we will annihilate everyone, and then we will return to plow our fields.”

[...]

Incitement to genocide is a crime

Kan, the Israeli broadcaster, posted the full video of the song on its X account on Sunday but deleted it a short time later amid an outcry from Israeli and other users.

Some expressed concern that it would help “Hamas propaganda,” while others appeared genuinely disgusted by the video’s violent and genocidal messages.

An archived copy of the now-deleted Kan tweet can still be found online. Kan also deleted a page featuring the song from its website but that too is archived.

Israeli broadcaster Kan shared the so-called Friendship Song 2023 and later deleted it.

The now-deleted page on Kan’s website was headlined, “Love sanctified by blood: The children of the Gaza envelope re-record The Friendship Song.”

It is unclear why Kan removed the video, but it is possible that someone there was concerned that it could make the channel complicit in genocide.

Two decades ago, officials of Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines were convicted by an international tribunal for incitement to genocide for broadcasts promoting the extermination of Tutsi people in Rwanda nine years earlier.

The song and video were originally created by Ofer Rosenbaum a so-called “crisis-communication expert” who heads a public relations firm called Rosenbaum Communication.

PR firm for ethnic cleanser

The video was published by “The Civil Front,” an organization run by Ofer Rosenbaum that purports to rally the Israeli homefront in support of the war on Gaza.

In 2020, Rosenbaum was responsible for a billboard campaign in Tel Aviv depicting Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh kneeling on the ground blindfolded, under the slogan “Peace is only made with defeated enemies.”

The client for this campaign was the Israel Victory Project, a cutout of the Middle East Forum, the organization run by notorious anti-Muslim agitator Daniel Pipes.

The Israeli Victory Project is currently promoting the ethnic cleansing of the Gaza Strip.

Hmmm, Daniel Pipes. I remember him. He was one of the professional Islamophobes whipping up anti-Muslim panics here in the U.S.A. after 9/11.

He was one of the people who raised a stink against the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque" here in NYC in 2010. (I participated in counterprotests against these folks.)

He was also one of the people who agitated against the founding of a bilingual public high school in NYC for Arabic-speaking students. That campaign was called "Stop the Madrassa!" -- even though, far from being a "Madrassa," the proposed school was named after Khalil Gibran, a Christian.

He was also one of a bunch of anti-Muslim bigots who tried to scare Americans about "creeping Sharia" -- an alleged Muslim plot to take over the U.S.A. and impose Sharia law on us all.

According to euronews, the "We will annihilate everyone" video was posted by the Israeli group The Civil Front.

Here is an article about them, published by VinNews, an Israeli news site: The Civil Front Sends Scary Videos To Gazans: ‘We Have To Talk Their Language’, December 21, 2023:

Quote:
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — For Ofer Rosenbaum, the word Hasbarah [loosely translating as ‘publicity propaganda’] is a dirty word. Rosenbaum feels that far from trying to explain ourselves, we should be using words themselves as a weapon of war- a powerful psychological tool which can intimidate our enemies.

Rosenbaum set up the Civil Front, an organization which creates videos in Arabic to spread terror among the Gazans and to precipitate their surrender. The videos are so authentic that they have even garnered the attention of Israeli intelligence, which asked Rosenbaum if it could use them. With 300 million views, mainly in Arab countries, Rosenbaum is trying to sway Arab public opinion against Hamas as another tool in the war effort.

This is followed by some videos in Arabic, after which the article continues:

Quote:
The narrator in the video clips is a former Gazan resident who discovered that he had a Jewish mother, ran away from the region and became a charedi Jew. His identity predictably remains protected, but his voice is unmistakably chilly, and accent tuned to strike terror into the hearts of those who are listening.

Rosenbaum believes that his videos should be part of the work plan of the IDF. “We come to our enemies and speak to them in their tongue -Gazan Arabic, we try to explain to them exactly what will happen to them.” All of the threats are genuine- “They must understand that this is where they’re going if they continue this way.”

Many polls indicate the vast majority of Israeli citizens want peace with the Palestinians. I think that should be starting point for reconciliation rather than focusing on one two bad apples in the Knesset.

Have you looked at current polls, as distinct from polls from before October 7? See news stories here and here.

Notice that this was in the aftermath of October 7 though. It's actually what you'd expect, given what happened and previously, most Israeli's preferred a two-state solution but were pessimistic about it's prospects. It may change again once the war is over and most of them oppose Netanyahu's right-wing government, blaming him for the failure in security as well as his policies for leading to what happened.

Hopefully popular attitudes in Israel will change once the war is over, but that may be too late. In the meantime, we urgently need the U.S. government to stop enabling genocide by the Israeli government.

No, you're not. This is the same thing that happened after 9/11 in America, when the US invaded Afghanistan.

I don't think that the US government would allow a genocide to happen in Gaza if they can help it. I think that they believe that an unconditional ceasefire would be bad because it might allow Hamas to regroup and regain power but I also think that they want humanitarian aid to get to the Palestinians who need it. They'll put pressure on Israel to wind down the intense bombing (which Israel claims will go into less intense phase of the war in January) as well as to allow more aid to get to civilians. They might also stop supporting Israel if they rebuff or don't give into pressure (the fact that the US vetoed resolutions for Israel regarding the conflict means that there's going to be political pressure on the US as well, both domestically and internationally, so that locks the US into trying to make sure that Israel doesn't go too far).

Which reminds me, after that aid resolution passed in the UN security council on Friday, I haven't heard anything further yet in news about it's implementation, (Guterres was supposed to appoint a UN coordinator to facilitate a greater amount of aid into Gaza, for instance). Has anyone else here heard anything further about that?
