How do I deal with ambivalence from librarian tutor?

Where I worked the money spent on management training was wasted because the guy taking the courses wasn't really cut out to be a manager. But they wanted him to be a manager.

I'm sorry to hear you're being treated like this. If teaching certain skills is part of her job description, it's unprofessional of her to blow off people she doesn't feel like teaching.

Maybe you could ask a manager if there's somebody else you could see for language tutoring, because this particular librarian has clearly been evading your requests. If the manager says he'll talk to that librarian about meeting with you, I'd suggest reiterating that you'd rather work with somebody else.

It's terrible that she is treating you this way and I am in no way excusing it, but it could be that she really is not qualified and doesn't know how to teach you. It's her shortcoming, but it could be that she really lacks the needed skills.
