I guess there are a few ways to look at it.

wrong planet -> the site is the planet for wrong things like pornography or people who are wrong, similar to store names like Dogworld (the store is the world for all things related to dogs) or Toyland.

wrong planet -> reference to the autistic statement that we feel like we are on the wrong planet (this requires niche knowledge of autistic culture), and implies we are aliens if you take it super seriously, but I think most people understand its just a reference to the feeling. Many sites have ridiculous names that are not meant to be taken seriously like *google*.

I am pretty neutral, I think by now the site has been referenced in autistic guides and such so probably changing the name will make it harder to find.

If I made the site I'd just call it something stupid like "Pedros cafe".

I really like the name "Wrong Planet".

My bride discovered it and mentioned it to me and the name immediately made sense.

Left to my own, noting that I am somewhat older, I would've leaned toward "Twilight Zone"...

But there could be some intellectual property right issues in using that name.

I think it's always good to ask questions and get answers. And your dad might find it interesting.

I like the name, for me it captures the essence of wtf that I experience daily dealing with people who only talk about sport, shopping, clothes and what the Jones's are up to and are immune to the fascination of WW2 aircraft and history.

Also 'WP' is 2/3rds of my initials...

We need WP t-shirts 8)

Now that makes sense. I again explained to him what Wrong Planet actually stands for and he understood it better.

No necessarily. It could be like in Star Wars where there are humans from various planets.

Both in 2014 and 2019 I ran Wrong Planet polls about this and the sentiment was overwhelmingly to keep the name, that “Wrong Planet” resonated greatly with most members. I doubt this sentiment has changed but we will see.

It turned out most members did not think we are not human, they got the hidden meaning, I was being too literal on an autism forum(LOL)

I"ve noticed that many people who get dx with autism as adults say "I always felt like I was on the wrong planet, or I didn't fit in with anyone else". They say that even when they don't know about this site.

I assume that's where Alex got the idea.

Wrong Planet is a harmless phrase I think. I feel like you have to find humor in being autistic.

Different Planet feels..off?

Personally, I've always thought I was on the right planet at the wrong time. Same as my Dad and his Dad and probably all the dads going back to the beginning. We'll never actually be of the current time period. In retrospect, that's probably because developing a mask means that we're usually significantly behind the current fashion.

Wrong planet is common, I personally felt more like I'm in the wrong time period. Ultimately, wrong planet is a known analogy for the issue and even if a person doesn't themselves know that, the site does still pop up when searching for autism fora.

That being said, I do think that sometimes it is worth considering these things as times do change. I just wouldn't support a change because of the confusion that could arise with members popping in and out and having to maintain multiple sets of DNS records and domain names and the potential for things going awry.
