Need to change avatar pic

I can't seem to delete or change my avatar pic....and this is making me very stressed. Halp!

You'll need to create an image (jpg, png) with maximum dimensions - width: 130 pixels, height: 160 pixels, file size: 3720.00 KiB.

Once you have that, click on "My Account" (top right of every screen), then follow "Edit Avatar" (on the left) to arrive at the avatar settings screen.

You can now upload a suitable image from an external URL, or select a suitable file from your device, or use one of the pre-defined avatars from the local gallery.


If you're unable to create an image conforming to the maximum dimensions let me know and I'll edit it to suit.
If possible, although it usually is.

Ok, I'll check my dimensions. However, currently there is a picture that appears in my account, albeit not showing up with my posts, which I want to delete.

Tapping Remove does nothing, nor does trying to upload a different picture.

That one, unwanted, photo just stays stuck in both the spots: regular and thumbnail.

I'll double check the size of a prefered image and see if I cam replace it.

Also, I checked the box to be notified if anyone responded, but didn't get notified.

It's ok....just observing that things aren't necessarily functioning.

There are a lot of buggy things on this website. The forum software hasn't been updated since 2014.

There is currently no image assigned to your avatar, as indicated by the neutral gray fill. This results in no avatar being displayed with your posts.

Regular and thumbnail? Sorry, I don't know what spots you're referring to here. And what is the photo of? Your profile is currently showing none.

Your profile option "Notify me upon replies by default" is currently set to "No". It's probably safer to set that to "Yes".

The thread update alert failure has been fixed and is now performing as expected.

I understand that I currently have no avatar. Hopefully, with your kind help I will get one.

1. On my profile page there is a photo of me, which I uploaded, but which I don't want to use.

2. I just tried to upload a different image, conforming to your specifications, but it did not supplant the unwanted photo.

3. My profile page continues to show the unwanted picture in two shots: original & thumbnail.

4. When I hit Remove Image, nothing happens.
When I hit Edit Image, I am taken to the site Home Page.

Can an admin delete the unwanted picture for me?

Are we looking at the same page? WP offers no image/avatar editing facilities.

Again, I can see no image on your profile.
What might be quickest is for you to simply PM me the image you'd like to use.

Yes, we do seem to be looking at very different "profile" pages!

To be sure - click on my avatar and on the next screen, click the PM button to open up the PM edit window.

Click on the "Insert Image" icon on the row of icons above the edit window (it's the last, and supposed to represent an image of the sun over a mountain) and enter the URL of the image.
Note that this cannot refer to an image on your device.

If this is still failing just PM the URL for the image.

If it is an image on your device you'll need to upload it to an image sharing service - https://imgur.com/ is very easy to use and provides a free account.
From there, you'll be able to PM the URL for the image as it appears on Imgur.

Fwiw I have the same weird issue and always have. For some reason the avatar that shows on my Profile Page isn't the one that's displayed to the public. My Profile Page one has always been Emily Brontë in the Christmas hat, no matter how many times I change to other avatars. It doesn't bother me and I kind of like seeing her there, so I just leave it.

The OP seems to have something stuck on her Profile Page the way I have Emily; however, for whatever reason she isn't getting a picture to show up to the public at all.

I still can’t edit any PMs, and I couldn’t delete my signature about being on a break until I used MR’s laptop. I click and click but nothing happens.
