I thought that talking about childhood crushes might be a fun idea for a thread. Please feel free to share.

I had a few crushes when I was a kid and one engagement - to a boy named Luke. That was his actual name although I usually called him Lukey. He was named after the Star Wars character, surprisingly not the Bible book or Bible character. (Our parents saw The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi together when they came out.) He proposed when he was 5 and I was 6. We had the same taste in movies and often watched them together. We even agreed upon important life stuff like how many children we would have. We decided that we would have two children - a boy and a girl. Their names were going to be Joshua and Cassiopeia - Josh and Cassy. After accepting his proposal, we kissed, and I gave him a Winnie-the-Pooh plushie which he still has to this day. Tragically, the relationship could not withstand the distance when I moved away nor his “girls have cooties” phase.

Anyway, I’d typically like one person at a time and for years.

Did you ever play the game Mash?

Quote:
MASH is a multiplayer paper-and-pencil game commonly played by children intended to predict one's future. The name is an acronym of "Mansion, Apartment, Shack/Street/Shed/Sewers/Swamp, and House". Additional variations include adding a potential car, future spouse, and ultimate career choice, among the numerous other possible categories.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MASH_(game)

My friends and I would play for hours when I was a preteen. There was generally lots of giggling involved. (We all have things we’re not proud of.) My future would often be something like: I will be a writer, I will marry Travis, we’ll live in a shack with our 14 children, and we’ll own a Lamborghini. (I ended up dating Travis when I was in my late teens, but he was disappointing. His mom said that I deserved better. )

I loved MASH. We could have a MASH thread here, and make our own fortune tellers. Then people pick their choices and we tell them the answers.

Childhood Crushes:

Carolyn - The one I got hit by the bike-a-thon for. Age 4-6 ish.
My second grade teacher - Mrs K
Chris Samson - Third grade
Sean C - The Foster Boy - 7th Grade
Dave P - My best friend's boyfriend - 8th Grade

I think that's all, for real people.

Movie star types:

Peter Criss (the cat from KISS)
Elton John
Cindy Brady
Fred Flintstone
Kristy McNicholl
Valerie Bertinelli
Eddie Van Halen (I don't think I knew he was married to Valerie)

A MASH thread would be fun! I thought of that but wasn’t sure if I was the only person who played it.

I had a crush on my Grade 7 music teacher. They were from London's East End and their Cockney accent turned my knees to jelly.

I never had a crush on a teacher as a kid. I homeschooled in 4th and then in 6th grade on up though, so that might be why.

Magy; elementary school. Then she became a sadist bully who loved to pull hairs of boys :|; luckily I wasn’t one of her victims.

Fatima - Mid to high school. This one actually
was my desk-mate for years. Even the teachers joked about us being a “cute item” (we were both very short kids).

Met her again only once in adulthood (And boy, she got much prettier).

Grace in university; not much interaction with her tho. Oh that’s not childhood part tho. lol

Fatima got married then divorced; not sure if she got remarried.
Grace got married and has kids.

MASH - Sorry TP I just finally sat down.
I got confused and made a paper fortune teller instead.
I was thinking that was what MASH was.

Now I remember MASH being the one where you can live in a beach house.
I always wanted that one!
And two girls and a boy!

Oh wait no, I think it was two boys and a girl?!
I guess I got that part right.

You can type it up if you remember how.
We can play fortune teller too but that's boring.

Did you play Cat's Cradle? I was pretty good at that.

Second grade was my bad year when I was seven (SA).
I latched onto the teacher as a kind of maternal comfort figure.
She left for two or three months in the middle of the year for an operation.
I was absolutely devastated.
I remember wanting her to go to my birthday party.

If you'll allow fictional crushes, then Shego from Kim Possible and Jade from Victorious.

As for celebrities, Nicola from Girls Aloud. I loved Girls Aloud. Knew almost all their songs.

Marina. Formally known as Marina and the diamonds.

In regards to people I knew, well I either avoided them until feelings went away and / or I wrote diary entries such as 'Dear Diary. This person makes me nervous. I don't know why. Maybe I admire them. Or maybe I'm jealous. Do I hate them? Probably not. Anyway, about my day -'.

I feel like I’m missing something. I’m thinking that my friends and I came up with other silly categories, but I can’t remember.

I was pretty good at Cat’s Cradle too, but I don’t remember how to do it anymore.

I never learned how to make the paper fortune tellers. Maybe it’s about time that I learn.
