Currently I'm hyperfixating on Hazbin Hotel. I actually had gone for several years without any hyperfixating, so..... this is interesting. And fun. And also a little frustrating cuz it's hard to focus on anything else.

For me, signs of hyperfixation include:

-a feeling of great excitement, especially when engaging with the hyperfixation

-having more energy and feeling less tired because I'm excited about something

-all of my thoughts being related to the hyperfixation, and having a hard time not thinking about it

-actually having a hard time making myself stop watching the episodes (normally even with stuff I love I can't make myself watch more than an episode or two. three if I'm lucky)

Focus on something and be energetic. This is genius.
I can't imagine the harm this would bring

I've experienced episodes of depression following long periods of hyperfixation...

Insomnia is a big one for me

My hyperfixations usually revolve around research

When I'm hyperfixating, I can research so much that I only get 4-5 hours sleep. I don't eat propper meals either.

Usually this would make me tired, but if I have something occupying my brian. I still have energy throughout the day.

I also "crash" at the end of a hyperfixation. It feels like depression but is probably my body telling me to catch up on sleep and eat real food.
