In the late 2000s getting a million views was an accomplishment

Now, even the most mundane videos get millions of views. And having a million views does not guarantee people you know have seen it.

How many views do you have to get to be consided viral?

It must spread around the world in very little time.

Most viral videos are horrible and made by horrible people who inexplicably get billions of views and subscribers.
Either that, or they're just plain not worth watching.

Uuuh, I would still think a Million vies is a lot.. even viral. Not mega viral the whole world has seen it.. but still a lot - even if it doesn't make money because a Million views isn't exactly enough to generate a lot of ad revenue it's still a Million Views!! ! vs. the countless people out there that struggle to get a few hundred or a few thousand views on their content.

If I knew anyone that got a Million views on something they posted I'd consider it a viral success. People have to share it a lot with others to get that sort of view count.. either that or you have to pay a lot of money to promote it. A LOT of money.
