Lauren Boebert's eldest son, Tyler has been arrested and charged with 22 crimes, and he's accused of recording and disseminating a sex tape with a minor.

Lauren Boebert would have you believe that it's queer people who pose a threat to children, but it sure seems like the real threat is inside her house.

I kind of think politician's children should not be fair game or targets for politics. Boebert might want to reflect on this now since she was one of those who also targeted Hunter Biden (along with other deplorables in the GOP).

But as with Hunter's conflict of interest in his business interests in the Ukraine shouldn't really come back to burn Joe, Boebert's son's paedophilia isn't Boebert's responsibility. Elected officials need to be held accountable but not their kids.

But there are limits. During George Bush's war on drugs and zero tolerance resulting in the incarceration of mostly poor black young men. He managed to protect his niece who was an addict and his two daughter's were repeat offenders with a DUI record. There were of course allegations Bush and his friends were cocaine users. So of course in those instances one rile for them and one for the rest of the schmucks who vote for them.

A politician's Adult-children are fair game as far as I am concerned. Considering some of the charges were for crimes committed on her property may also indicate that his mother may also be complicit. Even if she isn't, her own inappropriate pubic sexual behavior problems certainly indicate she is a poor role model to say the least.

Perhaps there is culpability? Did she know? but the principle should remain that children should be off limits unless the parents know and are culpable in some way (permissive?) for their kid's actions.

Her son is an ADULT - not a child. If he was a child, there wouldn't be any legal problems happening now. Unless there was a significant age difference.

I'll give you an example. My daughter get's into fights in college with other students. She is 18 so an adult and should know better. Am I responsible for her behaviour? does it represent bad parenting on my part? Does this disqualify me from holding office if I wanted to run for an election?

What I would not do (which Boebert has done) is point fingers at other parents whose adult children are accused of being criminals in some way. I do not think that's fair.

If she is 18 now she is responsible for her own behavior. If she is 18 and still can't control her behavior, that's something she wasn't taught at home in the years when her parents or guardians where responsible for her behavior.

(there can be extenuating circumstances - like a developmental or cognitive disability, but Ms Boebart's son is a legal adult with no such issues.)

Even parenting NT kids, they often don't listen to parents. When they reach adulthood they still don't listen.
Pedophilia is a form of addiction. I don't think you can blame Boebert for her son's addiction. What I would be concerned is if she knew about her son's predilection for young girls and still chose to be judgemental over democrat politicians kids as if she had some moral superiority (which she clearly does not).

So now people don't get charged with theft because kleptomania is a psychiatric diagnosis? And pyromaniacs aren't responsible for arson?

Guy committed the criminal offence AND was stupid enough to record it AND share the video evidence with others. He ought to be prosecuted.

As for your 18yo daughter being a legal adult in your country and getting into arguments in college - unless those arguments are Criminal Offences, and there's video documented evidence of them that she took and shared foolishly, it's an apples to oranges argument IF you were a politician. It would be silly of someone to go around trying to make news of your daughter disagreeing with someone. Big whoop. HUGE difference in someone's adult child committing a string of 22 criminal offences, including stealing a brain tumour patient's last $75 (as I heard on a David Pakman commentary video about boebert's son's crimes) as well as an alleged sex crime that he filmed and distributed to others. Further, the REASON that media and commentators are well within their rights to discuss and highlight the crimes of this particular adult son of lauren boebert is because this particular politician has made a point of drawing attention to herself with her ridiculous stunts and nonsense in order to do some self promotion & that of her party by suggesting that she and her peers are the politician and party of "Family Values," as if she and her colleagues are somehow the moral and ethical authority on how children should be raised, and on what they should and should not be taught in public school curriculums and in the home etc and so forth.. so, it is entirely within the rights and Obligations of the news media to shine a spotlight on these hypocrites and point out that CLEARLY she is NOT a perfect parent and has no business suggesting that she should be the one legislating how anyone else' children should be raised, educated etcetera and so forth.

Yes there's clearly more here than just one arrest or incident catching Boebert by surprise. If her son has a history of this type of behaviour then she (Boebert) clearly does not have a mandate to be preaching about family values. I suspect she will shed a couple of tears for the cameras about how she has struggled to cope and appeal to the heartstrings of her supporters (whom I suspect will compartmentalise these red flags like they do with their messiah Trump). I have already posted about another GOP politician using IVF when she had campaigned against it. Quite clearly morality/ethics isn's something many GOP leaders seem to value.

I'm not seeking to blame Boebert, I'm just pointing out if she's worried about groomers there's at least one child sex pest sleeping under her roof.

Two if her ex-husband is there.

I believe the metaphor of building a house made of sand aptly applies to her. I am amazed she already survived the scrutiny over her past as an alleged escort. The level of compromise made by GOP supporters is quite something to behold, I wouldn't be surprised if Dylan Roof doesn't try running for the GOP from his death row cell on a platform of the "great replacement".

Wut? :?

What is this metaphor ? Must be some regional thing. Never ever heard of any such thing about building a house out of sand.

A different one comes to mind, but not sand. :? :? :?

Pretty sure it's a reference to Matthew 7:24-27, the parable of building a house on a foundation of sand vs. building it atop of stone.

Just less than well remembered.

O.

I was gonna say the commonly known one I thought of is “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t cast stones.”
