Looks like Haiti is another failed country, much like Somalia and Nigeria.

Sad.

Haiti was set on the road to failure after it forced its independence from the French, It was economically embargoed by the newly formed American colonies (as punishment for overthrowing slavery) and effectively left in a state of servitude ever since.

It's not. It has some of the largest number of start up companies in Africa and has the 2nd biggest economy in Africa.

The list is really not surprising given all of the above have been through non-stop civil conflict. Missing is Eritrea who lost a significant portion of their population due to war with Ethiopia and refugees. The hand of post-colonialism stains the legacy of all of those on this list.
