Darkthrone

Woo!

I was stuck between them and I Hate Myself for my #10 pick.

Sardonic Wrath is one of my favorite albums. Alle Gegen Alle gets stuck in my head very easily.

We got some good taste on this thread

Since people are including metal and I kept my list strictly rock, my top metal bands would be:

Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Dio/Rainbow
Rhapsody of Fire
Symphony X
Kamelot
Mastodon
Meshuggah
Katatonia
Porcupine Tree (if you consider them metal and not rock)
Sunn O)))
Tool
Opeth
Danzig
Angra
Rage Against The Machine
Helloween
System of a Down
As I Lay Dying
All That Remains
Dethklok

I wanted to trim it down to 10 but I failed

Dare I say, a fellow Sunn worshipper?

I used to be a HUGE fan of Katatonia. Their last couple of albums really fell short for me though, sadly. "Fall of Hearts" was incredible. I don't know what happened with the last two :(

SUNN woot. I so love drone and doom metal. I don't hang around metal forums anymore so it's not too often I run into other Sunn fans. If you haven't listened to it, I am legally obligated to recommend Soused, Sunn's collaboration album they did with American-British avante garde singer Scott Walker. It's more Scott than Sunn, but it's a great album. And one of the most astronomically improbable collabs that I wanted that I never ever thought would happen lol
I didn't keep up with Katatonia (or most other bands now that I think about it). I think Night Is The New Day was my last album I got by them. They're one of those bands that just perfectly captured my experience with depression.
