Hi,

I'm new here. Late diagnosed 31 yo autistic woman, married to an autistic guy, 3 kids (1 diagnosed and 2 to follow) - there's a pattern lol

Just wanted to introduce myself, never really tried forums before. Looking for any advice and to chat to some other autistic people - I don't tend to have much luck with typical folk :?

My special interests are fantasy novels and crafting

JM379, Welcome to Wrong Planet.

I have come to understand that Asperger's Syndrome or Aspie for short is genetic. This is primarily because several members of the same family or close relations also have the traits. So when you wrote, "3 kids (1 diagnosed and 2 to follow)", that may very well be true.

The traits manifest differently between males and females. Many times females have a better way of hiding their traits. Boys can be brutal. You need to provide boys better protections when they are in school (age 10-19).

Most people have skills and weaknesses (+'s and -'s). But in the case of Aspies, we have ++'s and --'s. And some of us have +++++'s and -----'s. We fit in the category of genius. The key approach in life is to use your +'s to overcome your -'s. Probably the first step in this process is to recognize what they are good in and where they have problems.
