Have you seen that autistic volunteers are organising an event in England for autistic participants from around the world this summer?

And certainly not for the first time!
Actually, for the 20th year in a row!

The main programme is described here: https://www.autscape.org/2024/programme/presentations

It will feature over a dozen autistic speakers from the UK, Poland, Switzerland and Portugal!

In addition to the main programme, there are always plenty of non-formal workshops and discussion circles, led by various participants who volunteer to lead them.

You are all invited!

Autistic stand-up poet writes about her Autscape 2024 performance, "The Flux":

"This gently, optionally interactive spoken word show (stimming is invited!) imagines a future in which the Double Empathy problem has finally been solved. Thanks to the intervention of the trees…
It consists of some poems from Kate’s Dr Who show Bigger on the Inside which featured at Autscape in 2019 - but mainly new poems. There is accompanying music and a mixture of uplifting, funny and relaxing words.
It draws on Nick Walker’s idea of the “Neuroqueer” to imagine a world that looks a lot like Autscape."

An interesting and enjoyable event. I conducted a workshop there in 2019.

It also gave me a serious moment of self-realization. During a coffee break, I looked around at about 100 other people drinking coffee as they stood in pairs and groups chatting, while I stood alone by the wall. That's when I realized that, even in a big room full of nothing but autistic people, I was the most socially awkward of all.
