Hi yall.
I once got a birthday or holiday present about church and it said that churches are corporations legally in the same way that Apple or Exxon or Walmart or McDonald's is except churches are non profit and the big corporations are for-profit.I guess its true what they say....church is a business....at least legally they are.Secular non-profits tend to be corporations too.I am not just talking about the big megachurches....this applies to your small church on the street corner.

I watched a tax video and it said that they advise their clients to incorporate as a corporation as opposed to other options such as a trust.I think the Roman Catholic church was the first corporation or at least the first church that was a corporation. There is this thing called a corporation sole in some states where this single person can control a entire church or religion legally and they have the same status as the pope in their religion. One example is the Mormon church in Utah.I heard the President of the Mormon church has the entire Mormon church registered to his name legally but he cant own it but he controls it.

The Mormon church has so many billions so this one dude prolly controls at least hundreds of billions of dollars on the low end or at least 100 billion because I heard the Mormons are worth at least 100 to 200 billion. Its all legally under his control.I think Mormons got Utah to stop incorporating corporation soles so the Mormon church would have less competition with the same legal standing and status.

Many Christians dont like to admit that church is a business but it is.It has customers called members. The church puts on a "free service" once a week in exchange for a few dollars in the plate or 10 percent of gross income. Also most of this money is spent on overhead and not the kind of work Christ ordered.Starting a non-profit is as difficult and time-consuming as a for-profit business.Something tells me that Jesus did not intend his bride to be a corporation.lol.

Churches and non-profits even have CEOs and a board of directors or board of trustees which is roughly the same set-up as for-profit corporations. Also many times churches treat their biggest givers with special treatment and also many times the church relies on free labor and markets it as internships for college students to save on payroll.
