Ghosthunter, you know that I mean you well. Please forgive me going against the flow and saying that I am not a fan of your writings. Specifically, I find your attitude "I - HFA, them - ASers" inappropriate, offensive and belittling to others. You are not a yardstick to compare to and measure other people. If you need to assert your identity this way, I would appreciate if you could refrain from doing it here.

And are you REALLY AS? Do you think you are a hypocondriac?
In all honesty, these are questions that I ask myself every day. But I haven't asked you neither for those questions nor for answers.

Tom, I am aware of that and in principle have nothing against a debate on the subject. What I oppose is the way Ghosthunter judges people by their labels and very superficial observations. This, unfortunately, pervades his writings, despite my many attempts to let him know that it is in fact hurtful. At least I feel this way.
Tere, thank you for your post. I am so glad that there is someone who feels like me. I wrote previous paragraph before reading your post. Yes, it is this "looking down" that I complain about. Ghosthunter, maybe it's not your intention, but it still hurts. And I am not talking only about this thread.
I apologize for my bluntness, but I just had to say what I said. Ghosthunter, I really wish that you could change your attitude on this matter, because you are such a nice and good guy otherwise.
I agree with Magic, I have been opinionated.
I feel that I am doing the right thing, so here
goes!
I have read your past posts of multiple misdx'es
that you folks often write. I read on how the
meds you are given are bad and sometimes good.
I read books and literature and see the contradictions
that are presented by the doctors and what
is written in various books.
I will not appologize for my feelings. No one....I
repeat, no one.....Should be a pharmacudical lab
rat. If they have this thing to co-morbid everything
so they can make sales, though alot of texts I have
read, and online sites I have gone to before WrongPlanet
contradict this co-morbiding tactic$$$$$. Then that makes me angry at them, NOT you folks.
I will appologize for the content of categorizing,
and statuses that is being misinterpreted.
I am just looking out for the wellbeing of others,
and myself. If I see a wrong I express it without
direct intent to categorize, and belittle. I am one
who writes in thought, and categorize to create logic
of these thoughts, and in no way is it my intent
to belittle and insult anyone!
I am a person of feeling and heart. If I see this
mis-DX'ing occur for Pharmacudical $'s and imagine
myself in their hands, IT MAKE ME MAD AT THEM(the
mis-DX'rs and Pharmacudical $-makers).
3)...The Question Repeated!
Ghosthunter, I appreciate your apologies. But it is not a one-time issue that could be forgotten after an apology. I wish that you would stop categorizing people by their labels. How many times you asked: Are you HFA or AS? Do you have blue or brown eyes? If the former, don't mind brown-eye folk, stick with X, Y and Z, they also have blue eyes. It really is hurtful. Forgive poor analogy, but what I want to say is that people are too complex to be categorized by 3 labels. I don't want you to like or dislike me because I am an NT, AS, HFA (or whatever). Look at my profile - I don't label myself.
Regarding your opinion on medications, this wasn't my main concern. For the reference, I never took any meds, nor was I misdiagnosed (as I never got any diagnosis whatsoever). But, as other members pointed out, some meds may be useful for some people. Presenting your point of view is one thing, but telling people they are hypochondriacs and questioning their diagnoses is quite another, especially when no one asked for your opinion. All this you directed to "ASers", while making sure to point out that you remain outside of this category. I wrote "outside", but it felt more like "above".
OK, I hope that I wrote enough to make my point clear. You say that you never had any intent to insult others, and I believe that. Otherwise I wouldn't be writing all this.

Ghostbuster obviously has some difficulties translating his thoughts to things we can understand(or something in that nature)
I just generally give him the benefit of the doubt when the idea as it is stated is lacking a particular tone or phrase required to make the statement true or appropriate to the situation. I assume that the way his ideas look do not nicely translate into words and s**t is lost in the translation.

I'd agree with this statement. There isn't a "meeting of the minds" here. Things get lost in translation. That's not to say that GH writes "wrong" because he doesn't. GH writes how GH writes. But things are getting lost in translation.
I can totally understand how and why things were read as they were. GH does find it simplier to categorize people. It seems to be how his brain organizes data. I never got the impression when he was here that he felt one dx was better than the other, only that they were different. Its less of saying blue eyes are better than brown and shouldn't interact, and more of a way of getting a handle on a person. But, I agree it could be read the other way. Although my son is PDD-NOS not HFA, GH didn't act as if one was better. He also told me about others he had already met. Again, he was catorgazing, but not making a heiachy. I found GH much easier to understand in person than in writing. Speaking, conversation, was easier to follow.
I truely enjoyed my time with GH so this one little thing that follows wasn't an issue during our time together but I think might get in the way of written communication. That is that certain words are used slightly differently than is maybe the norm. GH and I discussed and discussed co-morbids. It turns out, we were using the word differently. BUT if we hadn't has time to go over and over what we each ment, we could have hurt each others feelings. I beleive, based on conversations with him, that the same thing is happening with the word "hypochondriac." I can't tell you what he was thinking (as only he can do that) but I do beleive he was surprised by the reaction. Hypochandria has a very, very negative connentaction. I don't beleive he meant it that way. Verbally, he said what he was trying to get at was that often when a child is dx'ed, its difficult to get an accurate dx based on a lot of different reasons. He thought it would be important for adults, which most of use here are, to read and learn enough to decide if the dx fit. What he was asking was more along the lines of "Have you investigated your dx and how did you do it?" But, he did use the "H" word and I'd have found it offensive if I hadn't heard from him what he meant.

many times you asked: Are you HFA or AS? Do you have blue or
brown eyes?
To cut off this information processing, I am not able to process
properly, thus shoot me know and ban me from this site.
I am able to process a certain way, and will not bow down to anyone.
I will in return do a trial thing........
I will have a consensus done in a post. I am not to have my logical
brain cut off. I am not trying to offend, so don't ask me to cut off
my arms and legs for others.
I will post this trial consesus thing so I can really see where I stand.
I am wasting my time if I can't properly post and communicate my
thought process. "I am not a chew toy", nor are my fellow posters.
Condemn me not. I don't want to dissappear! I have grown to respect
you folks, but "I am not a chew toy" and I ask questions and probe
for my logic process!

I agree with Magic. The sharpest "cut" was being called a hypochondriac. I endured 3 days of testing and am confident I'm not a hypochondriac.
I think both you and I are overreacting. I write as I think,
but often get mistranslated! If the dx is genuine, Awesome.
I was refering to those who are passed through the system

Thank you beebee for showing support for my true character. I mean no harm in my being mistranslated
and do question seriously my future status at wrongplanet. If I am too cut off my arms and legs in the
communication process for others, I am truly f#$ked and wasting my time at WrongPlanet!

Ghosthunter if you had said those words initially, there would not have been this discussion. I took, literally what you said in the first post. I felt I was being condescended to and given a "blanket" description to my diagnosis. I, frankly, was overjoyed to have a name attached to the way I felt. I do not take medication of any kind and probably never will.
Ghosthunter I would never want you to leave. You have a right to your opinions and I believe you are an asset to WP. I enjoy your posts (I may not understand them all) and you do make me think and see another side of things.
I do admire your ability to set out and do what you are doing. Meeting people from the board and traveling all the miles you have gone, makes you very brave.
I do hope you will see my side in this. I was very hurt by your words and didn't understand why you would say them to people with AS. BeeBee is right about one thing though, without hearing tone and intent, it's hard to appreciate what a person is really saying.
I'm really, really trying to understand what you really are saying sometimes. I seem to have more trouble than most on here, so I think in the future I will refrain from commenting about statements that may lead to misunderstandings.
GH,
First, I have to say that if everyone one WP who has committed a faux pas (which is what this really amounts to) left because of it, this would be a very lonely site.
I think the problem is that you are categorizing people with honestly is probably one of the hardest tasks to do. If it was easy to categorize people, then all psychologists would be out of a job and the function of human resources would include a requirement to be able to instantly identify what category a person is in and weed out the undesireables.
To further complicate things, there is no clear line between ASDs. The line today keeps moving around and is blurred. That is why there is the PDD-NOS criteria. If this were a perfect world, that would not be needed because everything would be deliniated.
As far as persons with HFA having a true disability vs persons with AS, I think as you visit with more persons wtih AS, you will find that persons with AS indeed so have a disability with problems, even if the problems are more subtle that in a person with HFA. I know I told you about some of the issues I had while working for IBM for example.
I think as you learn more from your travels GH, you will get a greated understanding of ASDs and how they affect each person. Remember though that each person is affected differently. As I quoted to you: "If you meet one person with AS, you have met exactly that, one person with AS."

Ghosthunter, I wasn't attacking you, I was trying to appeal to your conscience. By standing with a sword in your hand you made it clear that I failed trying to get to you. I give up, I don't want this discussion to deteriorate into a meaningless squabble. I hope that when you put away your sword, you'll figure out the meaning of my (and others') words. If not, well, each of us will go on with our lives. It all makes me quite sad right now, but I will survive. I wish you the same, I imagine it's hard for you too. Just another friendship that didn't work out.
Tere and Louis, I agree with you and appreciate your posts. Nomaken and BeeBee, I thank you for your comments too.

Post as you will Tere, I think everyone has a valued opinion, and
let this little misunderstanding hinder your thought process.
I am glad we got communication across, and God-Bless to that.
I may get overdramatic at times, but that is how I de-ghost
venomous thought that hinders my communication.
The last 4 days I have had to find a way to de-ghost this venom
of a situation since I was incapable of making any posts.
When paralyzed I get overdramatic. I appologze for any misunderstanding Tere, so keep posting from your mind and heart.
God-Bless you!

I have sheathed the sword, and I hope we are still friends?
I was being overdramatic, I was being defensive for the process that I use for my brain to dissect data.
Are we still friends?
