Hi yall,
I am really bummed out because my Dad is extorting and fining me 500 dollars for posting Jesus and the Early Christians drank alcohol and that the Church of Christ lies about alcohol. The Church of Christ teaches that there was no wine in the bible it was all Welch's Grape Juice and I was pointing out that was a lie. I only make 900 dollars a month so thats over half of my income for that month stolen

What is even more ridiculous is that my dad admits that the facebook post was totally correct and agrees my facebook post is accurate but he will steal the money from me anyways. He is doing this because he wants to be a elder at our new church and he was does not want me to ruin that for him. He is taking the 500 dollars from my retirement contribution and wont allow me to put money in my retirement for that month. That will affect me for the rest of my life. I am just so upset and angry. Crying.

So Jesus turned water into Welch's grape juice?
That is some genius advertising.

Here are a couple of articles on related topics

https://www.gotquestions.org/sin-alcohol.html

https://www.aamc.org/news/alcohol-relat ... -seriously

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Church-of-Christ

I understand you and your father and mother are conflicting over money, religious beliefs, the proper use of alcohol and roles and responsibilities towards one another in the current situation where you are an adult living with your parents.

All of these are difficult and sometimes contentious topics.

Conflict is often about needs like stability, respect, or shared values.

Try to focus on understanding each other’s perspectives by using “I” statements (e.g., “I feel hurt when…”) and finding common ground, like shared goals for peace at home. Set boundaries if conversations get too heated, and don’t hesitate to seek outside help, like family counseling, if needed.

Take small steps to care for yourself during this time - it’s okay to prioritize your well-being.

Strongly think about doing so anyway.

I don't know you or your situation, but stealing more than half of your monthly income on, what I consider to be a nonsense reason, is extremely abusive. Living under someone who can get away with this theft unchecked is never going to allow you to live a quality life.

They are extorting and abusing you. It is totally unchristian of them but unfortunately it would be impossible to convince the authorities that they are emotionally abusing you. The way they are acting is totally hypocritical

I would avoid posting on Facebook, it is very visible and non-anonymous, there are always repercussions for what you post. I avoid posting anything the slightest bit controversial on my Facebook page. It would impact my job and relationships. There is no true freedom of speech and perhaps never has been. People are tribal and divided up into opposing camps. Stay away from Facebook, because it is dangerous. That is why people come to places like Wrong Planet to post their opinions, because we can't be tied back to real names.

Fun fact: Red wine and communion wafers symbolize the blood and flesh of Jesus, so basically it's like cannibalism.

Ya I have never even been to that church yet but from the sound of it it seems even more extreme than my old church. I think they are so extreme that they think it is a sin to eat at church.I wish I was joking.

My parents are my represenative payee.I cant get the money away from him.The state required my parents to be in control over my money so I can get the healthcare to cover 10,000 dollars in medical bills every single month.I could report him but then I would be out on the street with nowhere to go for the 21st time.
