I used to be a very disgusting person, but having a bladder infection motivated me to start taking better care of myself.

Not really. I shower after each workout so that makes it three times a week but that's it. Teeth get cleaned once a day if I remember.

I want to keep my immune system up and running.

I shower only when my Mum yells at me haha. And brushing teeth is only done mostly in the mornings, as in the nights I am too tired. I mouthwash intensively instead. Never had BO though. :D
I also boycotted deodorant/anti-perspirant on the basis that none of them work on me.

I too don't use deoderant or anti-perspirant. All my shirts are synthetic, designed to keep me dry through capilary action and then evaporation. I can go for 2 consecutive days without taking a shower, and when I finally do shower the primarily reason is to keep my hair and scalp fresh and healthy. If I were still wearing cotton clothes, my shirt at least would definitely feel slimy by the 2nd day of wearing it, and then I'd want to take a shower.

Maybe the reason showering daily in Europe has only caught on relatively recently, has to do with the market change from wool clothes to to those made of cotton (I don't know that for a fact, since I've never been to Europe). Wool clothes dry relatively quickly, so the sweat doesn't have time to stink, whereas cotton holds onto the sweat, allowing bacteria in it to fester and smell bad.

My mother is the same - in her childhood and early youth she couldn't be very clean because she came from a poor family where there wasn't even a bathroom in the house; she even had to share her bed with her grandmother until she was 23 because they had only one room. My mother is 53 now and it was only several years ago when she started to remove hair from her body and it's only because I started doing it. She doesn't have good habits about hygiene.

I'm clean but untidy if that makes sense.

If you mean that you take care of hygiene but don't care what clothes you are dressed in; whether they are shoddy and out of fashion, I can say the same about myself.

Yeah, plus my hair is often untidy.

Normally I have very short hair but I haven't seen the hairdresser since May. I'm going to have my hair cut the next week because I hate it when something (including my hair) touches my face :?

Somehow even when I spend a lot of time brushing my hair it goes untidy again.

It varies alot. When I exercise I allways shower after. When I'm in a depressive slump I tend to go a few days. I'm in one now but I cut my bangs and took a shower to wash the hair off me.

What's bangs TM1? Is it what we call in the UK a fringe?

I shower every day and am fanatical about brushing my teeth, and flossing.
