In early seasons, maybe. But it's pretty lousy later on, among many other things in that cartoon.

It's most likely that Plankton is lonely because everyone in the sea knows that he's an evil master mind. So he probably created an Karen to be a super AI which has the mind of her own.

I guess it may be a more accurate portrayal of dysfunctional & abusive relationships. My parents & most of my other married relatives seem to get along better & have happyish relationships. Me & Cass's relationship also seems a lot nicer than Plankton & Karen's.
