Today I was waiting for the litterbox in the hallway when coworker Rob walked by and had the nerve to flick me in the stomach. He didn't injure me or anything like that. We hadn't even interacted before so I don't think he had a grudge against me. "Please don't do that again.". "No sir. Alright"

i don't feel physically or emotionally "safe" @ home depot.

maybe it's a good thing, coworkers do not appear to be "safe" to interact with, b/c then i don't make the mistake of trusting them. (rolls eyes)

in a way, that might be better than mister redelings and amy shyu, b/c they appeared trustworthy and then they had the nerve to tell me that "it is lying for you to ask me to call you 'he' instead of 'she' ".

now i don't feel like i can trust anyone.

good thing i'm already 42 years old.

been on the decline for a long time.

(former) customer service and millworks servant Elio, a couple years ago. a couple years ago, i was in the lockerroom and all of a sudden that idiot had the nerve to start pounding me hard on the back and scared the feces out of me. "please do not do that again" i told him. "are you ok?" he said. "please do not do that again." "sorry," he said. that was his first, last, and only interaction with me. a couple months after that, did not see him again. (maybe i overreacted. if i didn't overreact, maybe he would've been my frenemy. nobody's perfect. maybe, in his "in" group, that was the correct way to greet someone.) (rolls eyes)

one time, (former) tool rental Bill had the nerve to flick me in the back. when i said "please do not do that again, Bill", he said "what are you afraid of happening? this is the breakroom." yeah, well home depot hires convicted felons. besides, customers often come into the breakroom, and some customers act like wild animals.

former customer service Mya had the nerve to snap @ me "hey!", as if i did something wrong, but she just said "can you take this to Lumber". even according to her, i didn't do anything "wrong".

(former) lot attendants adam S, nichelle, ronnie, did almost nothing to justify their minimum wage. lazy boy steve took it to an extreme, sitting @ the picnic table smoking. plenty of times, i made an entire lap of the parking lot and lazy white boy steve was @ the picnic table the whole time. (lazy boy steve has his own post in Wrong Planet).

tattletale tom (has his own post in wrong planet).

tracie. flapping her stupidass trap, even when i was talking to someone else. then when she asked me a question, i felt like i had to drop everything and come up with an adequate answer for her. "i just love him," she kept saying, but i wasn't even talking to her. annoying as f**k.

(front end supervisor/cXM/ now ASM smith) (how did that lazy stupid lil girl get promoted to ASM within five years? which boss is she having sex with? i can't wrap my head around it!). had the nerve to tell me to load a one hundred pound litterbox. "(ASM) javier said that if it's over fifty pounds....". "i do not think that is fifty pounds," that stupid lil girl had the nerve to interrupt me. (it clearly says on the box "100 pounds"!). (i think ASM smith should've gotten a "Safety Violation" [final warning!], but as usual, that stupid lil girl got NOTHING!! !). asm smith has had the nerve to complain about loading trees in the rain, and complain about the "pie your boss in the head" day. one time, ASM smith had the nerve to dial the phone number of (former) Supervisor Sue, on Sue's day off, to ask Sue a question about the cash register. (working off the clock, strictly prohibited. so what punishment did ASM Smith get for physically forcing someone ranked lower than her, to be working "off the clock?". as usual, nothing!).

(former ASM dave) had the nerve to unlock a bbq and then tell me to take it out and load it. but he left the lock on the ground, and then when i waved (former) asm Don over, Don though I was messing around or something, but maybe it was Dave's fault for not giving me the stupidass lock. but as usual, neither dave nor don got any disciplinary action. and i was afraid that Don would've written me up. (rolls eyes) (january 2022)

the list goes on and on

The first time Cashier Melinda saw me, she had the nerve to ask "do you work here?". (rolls eyes). yeah, well, home depot is "diverse". (in some ways).

sometimes when i go around begging coworkers to please lift something for me, they get all "self righteous" and passive aggressive. Plumbing Associate Marquice had the nerve to bark @ me "am i helping you or are you helping me?". mario had the nerve to tell me "you can't lift that? that is not fifty pounds." then mario gave me a hugefuck lecture about lifting it the right way. former lot attendant justin had the nerve to tell me "i am not a slave". but the training videos say that all the servants are required to assist with loading. but sometimes they not only refuse, but have the nerve to tell me off, as if to say "why should i do your job for you when you don't do my job for me?". idiots! and they do not get disciplinary action. (inherent to the system). then Human Resources told me to tell the Head Cashier if i want loading assistance, but when i tell the head cashier, the head cashier (sometimes) calls Tattletale Tom. and then i feel guilty b/c, as a result of my work restriction, i do less work and tattletale tom does my job for me, and neither of our salaries changed. (but tattletale tom has his own thread).

annoying alberto

Customer service mya had the nerve to bark "hey!" at me, like I did something wrong, but then she just asked me to push a cart to Receiving (rolls eyes). That idiot was also glaring at me like I was diseased (like leprosy), but I didn't say or do anything about it because she was having sex with the boss

Head Cashier Marie, two times, had the nerve to tell me to load some merchandise and when I told her I was on break she had the nerve to tell me that I was the only one that could do it so I did it.

Today Greg threw a knife at Raul and I was trying to sit on a chair and had to quickly stop. Otherwise the knife would have struck me. Nobody apologized or anything like that

We have bad coworkers here too. After a while, I had to learn how to deal with them in a self preserving manner. Examples include

1. A coworker from Russia that survived the fall of the Soviet Union. He knows how to sweet talk management. Beware of what he says to the supervisors about your work habits.
2. Some people of color will also hide behind the race card in the event they get caught doing something wrong. The best thing for me to do is not point it out as doing so may get the accusation of racism pointed my way.
3. Pro management union stewards. They will downplay toxic management behaviours and potentially further any gaslighting tactics used against the employee complaining. They still have an obligation to file grievances on your behalf so some pushback will be required.
4. Spineless bootlickers or useful idiots. They tend to go hand in hand. Usually afraid to speak up for themselves, and quick to rat out fellow employees to management over anything they know about you inside or outside of work. That being said be careful what company you keep.
5. Supervisors- sometimes asking about your personal life is really just a fishing expedition rather than genuine care or thought. The questions they ask and how they ask them will give it away.

There may be other things I have not mentioned. Mind you, these habits do not necessarily make them bad workers by any stretch. It just means they at some point treated me with a lack of respect.

That just means the break clock gets restarted.

Not even joking. If you're entitled to a x minute break and it's interrupted, you're still entitled to that break. Further, it incentivizes the boss to make sure people aren't interrupting your break.

If the place is ran so poorly they can't ensure my break isn't interrupted, that's a them issue, not a me issue.

Yeah, being interrupted on a break during work is unacceptable.

Imagine if you had taken half of your break though and hit the reset? You'd get half of a break extra. I can't imagine that working for busy places that demand one's presence at every possible, momentary opportunity.

Like I said, that's a them problem, not a me problem.

Sometimes you need to twist some arms to get your problems to be taken seriously. If I let my break being interrupted only ever be a me problem they won't take it seriously, if I make it a them problem, they'll give a s**t.

You make it clear to the boss that you refuse to allow their inability to schedule enough bodies infringe on your break that you're entitled to and that you're documenting every single instance. Now the ball is in their court to resolve the problem.
