So Microsoft has released a 3 minute playable demo of an AI developed recreation of a level from Quake II. I've watched footage of it being played and it's about as horrifying and stupid as one would expect. As soon as I'm able, I'll share a video of a review of it and how the future of gaming is pretty much over. $80 price tag on AAA games (which may or may not be done well), voice actor talent unappreciated by major publishers to the point where they're considering going on strike, and now AI slop replacing human effort. Yep, it's over.

Go indie. It's the only part of the gaming industry that actually gives a damn.

I'm afraid of the idea that this is what all those mass firings in the AAA industry is leading to.

I know quite a few friends working in the gaming industry, so I've been closely following developments on this. It's horrible really because I know such passionate people who really care about the quality of gaming. They could easy (and often have) talked to me for hours about game development.

I can't be detached from this because it directly impacts the people I care about. Unfortunately, others don't have any sort of connection. They'll shrug and think eh, it's just video games, who cares? If it's passable, it'll do.

That indifference causes rage that cannot be put into words.
