What is "living" supposed to be like?

I do feel like I'm "missing out" on things I see others doing that looks fun and enjoyable. I've seen people's posts on social media bungee jumping, play around these ball like things on water, zip wire, seemingly going out to lots of nice places and I seem to think that my hobbies at home like reading and writing are not things that come to mind when I think of the term "living your life". What comes to mind when I think of that phrase is the stuff I mentioned along with clubbing and dancing and drinking and laughing with your mates.

I personally wouldn't do bungee jumping although I don't know about zip wire. I did enjoy some rides (the vampire and dragon's fury) at Chessington a while ago which I refused to go on as a teenager.

I sometimes also struggle to deal with the time being lost because of the pandemic because in 2020, 2021 and 2022, we didn't go abroad and went and did only a few things in my own country. I went to visit grandparents in 2023 in France and it was nearly a year ago that we went to Naples and in December I went to Copenhagen.

I do, I've been a number of times with my dad and stepmum to places like Amsterdam, Antwerp, Krakow, Rome, Berlin, Naples and Copenhagen so far. I won't for some reason go on my own and book a flight on my own initiative it has only been with other people. I never seem to want to go just by myself.

Sounds like you have a fuller life than most people Chris! I've only ever been to France.

Honestly Chris, I ask myself the same question every once in a while.

Sometimes I think about the song 'We could be anything' by Baby Queen. Particularly the lines "A life devoid of meaning is a life of total freedom" and "If it's inconsequential, then there's infinite potential".

I don't think there is any right or wrong way to live life (within reason). You just exist and decide what to do with yourself. Which can be daunting! I think that's why many get caught up in this idea of what they're supposed to be doing.

I don't really care. The universe was fine before me, it'll be fine after me; I'm just passing through and finding things to do since I happen to exist and I might as well do something since I'm here.

When I think of "living life" what comes to mind, is things like bungee jumping, jumping out of a plane, doing extreme sports, travelling to multiple countries on your own and so on. It has not made me interested in bungee jumping or parachuting from a plane and the heights make my heart jump and although I like to go to new places abroad, it has never made me want to go alone and do it alone but I do hear of others who have done it alone and I therefore find myself comparing because I haven't tried it alone and not really wanting to.
